Eovaldi didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 6-2 loss to the Blue Jays, allowing two runs on five hits over seven innings. He struck out five without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander tossed an efficient 72 pitches (56 strikes) before exiting, but Eovaldi served up solo homers to Lourdes Gurriel and Matt Chapman and was headed for his first loss of the season until the Red Sox tied it up in the eighth inning. Eovaldi will carry a 3.32 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and sharp 24:3 K:BB through 21.2 innings into his next outing, but he's already given up seven long balls on the season.

Eovaldi surrendered one run on seven hits and one walk while striking out six over 4.2 innings in Tuesday's win over the Blue Jays. He did not factor into the game's decision.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi struggled to keep the Blue Jays off the bases in this one, allowing eight men to reach before being yanked with two outs in the fifth inning. Ultimately, he was able to tightrope out of a lot of trouble, surrendering just one run on a Zack Collins solo homer in the top of the second frame. All together, Eovaldi has produced a 3.78 ERA and 1.30 WHIP over three starts this season. He'll look to get his first win of the 2022 campaign when he takes on the Rays on Sunday in his next expected start.

Eovaldi (1-0) allowed two earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out six across five innings to earn the win Wednesday against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi surrendered a pair of solo home runs -- one in the opening inning and the other in the fifth -- but otherwise limited the Detroit offense. The Tigers did make him work, however, as they fouled off 32 of Eovaldi's offerings and ran his pitch count to 101 across five frames of work. Eovaldi has worked five innings in each of his first two starts and has posted a 13:2 K:BB in that span, though he's also surrendered four long balls.

Eovaldi allowed three runs on five hits and a walk while striking out seven in five innings during Friday's loss to the Yankees. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Boston's offense provided Eovaldi with a three-run lead in the top of the first inning Friday, but he gave up a two-run blast in the bottom half of the frame before Giancarlo Stanton tied the game with a solo homer in the bottom of the fourth. Although the right-hander was forced to settle for a no-decision, he had strong strikeout numbers while reaching 76 pitches in the Opening Day start. He tentatively lines up to start Wednesday's road matchup against the Tigers.

Eovaldi and the Red Sox won't face the Yankees on Thursday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Christopher Smith of The Springfield Republican reports.
EDGE Analysis
The season opener will be postponed to Friday, which was initially an open date for both teams. The Red Sox still plan to hand Eovaldi the Opening Day nod and keep the rest of their rotation in order.

Eovaldi was announced as the Red Sox' Opening Day starter for the April 7 game against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Chris Sale (ribs) is unavailable to begin the season, so it's no surprise Eovaldi will take the mound Opening Day for Boston. The right-hander had a 3.75 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 195:35 K:BB across 182.1 innings last season, which was only the second time in his MLB career he's topped 160 innings.

Eovaldi did not allow hit or walk while striking out six over four scoreless innings in Wednesday's spring training game against Minnesota.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi increased his innings count in what was a dominant Grapefruit League performance against several Twins regulars. He was also dominant for two innings of his first spring start before tiring in the third. There's time remaining for two more Grapefruit League starts, so Eovaldi should be ready for five or six innings on Opening Day. Across seven spring innings, the right-hander has allowed two runs on three hits with nine strikeouts and zero walks.

Eovaldi allowed two runs on three hits while striking out three and walking none over three innings in Friday's spring training game against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi was dominant over the first two innings before getting fatigued in the third. There's time left in camp for Evoladi to make three more starts before taking the ball Opening Day in Yankee Stadium on Apr. 7; however, manager Alex Cora said he was not locked in to giving his starters four spring starts. "We have to be careful. We'll see how he feels after this one and then we'll reassess what we have to do," Cora said. Whether the righty makes two or three more starts, Eovaldi should be around the five-inning mark by the regular season.

Manager Alex Cora said Wednesday that Eovaldi will draw the Opening Day start against the Yankees on April 7, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Red Sox announced Wednesday that Chris Sale (ribs) will miss the start of the regular season, so Eovaldi will be tabbed for the Opening Day start at Yankee Stadium. The right-hander made 32 starts for Boston last year and posted a 3.75 ERA and 1.19 WHIP in 182.1 innings, and he's slated to make his first spring start of 2022 against the Rays on Friday.

Eovaldi will start Friday's spring training game against the Rays, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boston kicks off its Grapefruit League schedule Thursday, a traditional affair with the Twins, but manager Alex Cora might deploy exclusively minor leaguers for that game. Eovaldi geared up for the assignment by throwing live batting practice Tuesday. The right-hander, who went 11-9 with a 3.75 ERA and 1.19 WHIP over 32 starts, is expected to be the No. 2 starter behind Chris Sale. Eovaldi will be followed in the spring rotation by Nick Pivetta, who will start Saturday against the Twins.
