He was in line for his 11th win of the season before Boston's bullpen ran into some trouble in the seventh inning. The 31-year-old righty has recorded a 2.27 ERA with a 48:6 K:BB over his last six starts but he hasn't earned a win since Aug. 11. Eovaldi will carry a 3.58 ERA into his projected home start against the Yankees next weekend.

Eovaldi brought his typical quality stuff Tuesday aside from a fourth inning that saw him permit both runs charged to his ledger. The nine strikeouts are one off his season high and the 31-year-old has now recorded at least eight strikeouts in each of his last three games. Dating back to his start on Aug. 11, Eovaldi has 1.90 ERA in 44.2 innings across eight starts.

Eovaldi pitched seven scoreless innings in a no-decision against Tampa Bay on Wednesday, giving up three hits and two walks while striking out eight.

EDGE Analysis

Eovaldi logged his second straight quality start, limiting the Rays to a trio of singles. The 31-year-old has now piled up 163.2 innings on the year, his most since amassing a career-high 199.2 with Miami in 2014. Eovaldi will take a 10-8 record, 3.57 ERA and career-high 171 strikeouts into his next scheduled start on the road at Seattle.

Eovaldi allowed three runs on six hits and two walks with nine strikeouts in 6.1 innings versus Cleveland on Friday. He did not factor in the decision.

EDGE Analysis

The right-hander gave up a pair of home runs in the contest -- a solo shot to Jose Ramirez and a two-run blast to Austin Hedges in the seventh. Eovaldi has allowed multiple homers in three starts this year, all of which have been in his last seven turns through the rotation. Despite the trouble with the long ball, it was a solid start for the 31-year-old, who now has a 3.73 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 163:28 K:BB through 156.2 innings. He lines up for a home start versus Tampa Bay next week.

Eovaldi didn't factor into the decision Saturday against Cleveland after tossing 5.1 innings of two-run ball, allowing six hits while fanning seven.

Eovaldi ended just two outs away from recording a quality start, but he limited the damage to just two second-inning runs -- including a solo shot from Franmil Reyes -- while fanning seven for the second straight outings. The veteran has struck out at least six while allowing two or fewer runs in each of his last four starts. He owns a 3.71 ERA through 150.1 innings on the year.

Eovaldi didn't factor into the decision in Monday's 8-4 extra-innings win over the Rangers, allowing only one unearned run on four hits over seven innings. He struck out seven without walking a batter.

EDGE Analysis

The right-hander was locked in, firing 69 of 94 pitches for strikes, but Eovaldi got denied his 11th win of the season when Matt Barnes blew the save in the ninth inning. Eovaldi is up to 10 quality starts on the year, and he'll take a 3.72 ERA and 147:26 K:BB through 145 innings into his next outing.

Eovaldi and the Red Sox won't face the Rangers on Sunday after the game was postponed due to inclement weather, Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe reports.

With Hurricane Henri expected to make landfall in Long Island or Southern New England on Sunday, the Red Sox opted to postpone the contest out of an abundance of caution. The two teams are scheduled to make up the game Monday at 1:10 p.m. ET, weather permitting. Eovaldi, who was scheduled to start Sunday, will presumably be pushed back one day in the pitching schedule to take the hill for Boston in the series finale.

Eovaldi (10-8) took the loss in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Yankees, giving up two runs on seven hits and a walk over five innings as the Red Sox were downed 2-0. He struck out six.

The right-hander pitched well, firing 57 of 83 pitches for strikes, but Boston's bats couldn't solve rookie Luis Gil. Eovaldi once again couldn't keep the ball in the park, as both Yankees runs scored on solo shots by Luke Voit and Giancarlo Stanton, and he's served up six homers over his last four starts -- a stretch during which Eovaldi has a 6.14 ERA despite a 26:5 K:BB through 22 innings.

Eovaldi got tremendous run support to cruise to his 10th win, as the Red Sox had put up 14 runs by the end of the fifth inning. He didn't need much help, however, as he managed double-digit strikeouts for the first time since April 19 and the second time this season. The only earned run Eovaldi allowed came on a solo home run from Brandon Lowe. It was a needed bounceback effort for Eovaldi, as he entered the game having allowed 12 earned runs across his last 10 innings of work. The effort lowered his ERA to 3.92 across 133 frames this season.

Eovaldi (9-7) took the loss Friday as the Red Sox were routed 12-4 by the Blue Jays, surrendering seven runs on eight hits and two walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.

EDGE Analysis

The right-hander seemed to be in firm control as he blanked Toronto through four frames, but everything fell apart for Boston in the fifth as the Jays sent 14 men to the plate and scored nine runs. Eovaldi has been tagged for at least five runs in three of his last five starts, saddling him with a 5.09 ERA since the beginning of July despite a strong 1.19 WHIP and 40:5 K:BB through 35.1 innings over that stretch.
