Manager Alex Cora said Eovaldi (shoulder/neck) won't be available to start Tuesday's home game against the Blue Jays as the Red Sox had hoped, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi was scratched ahead of his most recent scheduled start last Thursday in Pittsburgh after he experienced soreness in his neck and shoulder area. At the time, Eovaldi's scratch was viewed as mostly precautionary, but Cora relayed that the right-hander hasn't responded to treatment as well as the Red Sox had hoped over the past few days. Cora noted that an IL stint could be on the table for Eovaldi, but the team may wait until after Monday's off day before officially deciding on his status.

Eovaldi was scratched from his scheduled start Thursday at Pittsburgh due to soreness in his neck and shoulder area, Alex Speier of The Boston Globe reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi said he still believes he could pitch Thursday, but the Red Sox will exercise caution with the veteran right-hander. At this point, it seems likely Eovaldi will simply be skipped for one turn through the rotation, and he should be considered day-to-day for the time being. Josh Winckowski will make a spot start Thursday for Boston.

Eovaldi allowed two runs on eight hits across six innings of work in a no-decision Friday against the Yankees, striking out three while walking two.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi's 11.6 percent strikeout rate and 1.67 WHIP in the outing weren't particularly encouraging, but he worked out enough enough jams to keep the Red Sox in a game they'd eventually win. Seven of his 10 baserunners and both of his two runs allowed came in his first three frames, but he settled down after that and exited with his team down 2-1. It hasn't been a great season for Eovaldi, whose ERA now sits at 4.15, but he's at least now thrown at least six innings in four straight outings, posting a 3.70 ERA over that stretch. He'll look to keep that run going next week against the Pirates.

Eovaldi allowed four runs on seven hits and struck out seven in six innings, taking a no-decision versus the Royals on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi gave up solo home runs to MJ Melendez and Kyle Isbel as well as a two-run single to Bobby Witt. This was the second time in his last five starts Eovaldi has avoided walking a batter, though he's given up at least three runs in four of those outings. The mid-season slump has him at a 4.23 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 93:16 K:BB across 93.2 innings through 17 starts this year. The 32-year-old is projected for a home start against the Yankees next week.

Eovaldi (5-3) earned the win Monday over the Astros. He allowed two unearned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out six in 6.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
A pair of errors in the third inning put two Astros in scoring position with no outs. One came home on a sacrifice fly and the other on a double, but Eovaldi was able to limit the damage there, at one point retiring 12 straight batters before Martin Maldonado's seventh-inning single ended his night. This is the best Eovaldi's looked in his four starts since returning from a back injury, and it's encouraging it came against a strong opponent. The right-hander has a 4.11 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 86:16 K:BB through 87.2 innings across 16 starts. If Eovaldi isn't traded ahead of Tuesday's deadline, he's lined up for a road start in Kansas City this weekend.

Eovaldi allowed five runs (three earned) on nine hits and no walks while striking out one in six innings in a no-decision versus the Guardians on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi left the game with a lead despite his shaky pitching, but the Red Sox's bullpen couldn't make it last. He's now allowed 17 runs (15 earned) in 13 innings across his last three starts since returning from a back injury, which suggests he may not be feeling at his best. The right-hander has a 4.32 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 80:14 K:BB through 81.1 innings in 15 starts this year. He's lined up for a tough road start in Houston next week.

Eovaldi (4-3) allowed nine runs on eight hits and two walks over 2.2 innings Friday, striking out three and taking the loss against Toronto.
EDGE Analysis
It was a nightmare outing for Eovaldi who gave up three runs in the first two innings before falling apart even further in the third. He gave up just one homer, a two-run shot by Matt Chapman in the second. His season ERA jumped nearly a full run Friday, from 3.34 to 4.30 through 14 starts. Eovaldi has given up 12 runs through seven innings in two starts since returning from the injured list. He's lined up to face Cleveland at home next week.

Eovaldi didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Yankees, giving up three runs on six hits and two walks over 4.1 innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Making his first start after returning from a five-week absence due to lower back inflammation, Eovaldi looked a bit rusty and managed only nine swinging strikes among his 78 pitches. The right-hander will take a 3.34 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 76:12 K:BB through 72.2 innings into the All-Star break, but his 4.59 FIP and 2.11 HR/9 suggest he could be headed for a bumpier second half.

Eovaldi (back) was reinstated from the 15-day injured list ahead of Friday's start against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi tossed three innings during a rehab start at Triple-A Worcester on Sunday and allowed two runs on five hits and no walks while striking out four. After spending just over a month on the injured list due to lower back and hip issues, the right-hander will rejoin the Red Sox to make one final start prior to the All-Star break. Although Eovaldi will be pitching on normal rest Friday, it's possible that he'll be capped somewhere between 70 and 90 pitches since he wasn't able to get fully stretched out during his rehab assignment.

Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Monday that Eovaldi (back) is in line to be activated from the 15-day injured list to start Friday's game against the Yankees in New York, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi's return for the series opener in New York will likely be contingent on him completing a between-starts bullpen session Tuesday without incident. The right-hander is coming off a three-inning rehab appearance at Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, with Eovaldi striking out four and allowing two earned runs on five hits and no walks in the 54-pitch outing. Since he was sidelined for more than a month with lower back and hip issues and didn't get fully stretched out during his rehab assignment, Eovaldi could be capped at somewhere between 70 and 90 pitches Friday.
