Mikolas has tossed a scoreless frame in his lone appearance with the Padres over three brief stints in the majors this season. He'll work the middle innings for a few days and likely return to the minors when Sean O'Sullivan returns from paternity leave.

He was sent down in order to make room for Tyson Ross on the active roster. Mikolas was just called up from the minors on Sunday and didn't make an appearance during his brief stay with the team.

He was sent down as the Padres welcomed Yonder Alonso and Jedd Gyorko back from the disabled list. Mikolas made just one appearance during his brief stint with the big club and will return to a 3.14 ERA over 39 appearances at Triple-A.
