Miles Mikolas limited the Yankees to two runs and four hits in 7 1/3 innings Monday to earn his first win as a Ranger. It looked like it might be another ugly outing for Mikolas when he walked Derek Jeter and then balked him to second on his way to giving up a run in the first. However, he was quite effective from that point on, allowing just three more hits and one walk the rest of the night. Even so, it merely lowered his ERA to 7.48. We still wouldn't suggest picking him up in AL-only leagues.

Miles Mikolas gave up five runs -- four earned -- over 5 2/3 innings Saturday in a loss to the Angels. Mikolas has been roughed up in all three of his major league starts and could be headed to the bullpen (or back to Triple-A Round Rock) after the All-Star break. The right-hander yielded nine hits Saturday and walked one batter, watching his ERA climb to 10.05. His WHIP isn't much better at 1.88.

Miles Mikolas was blasted for nine runs and 12 hits in 3 1/3 innings by the Astros on Monday. Mikolas gave up six singles and a triple during a six-run second inning. He survived that and pitched a scoreless third, but he was done after a couple of little singles and a three-run homer in the fourth. Perhaps Mikolas will get one more chance to impress the Rangers, but if he's going to prove useful in the majors, it's more likely to happen out of the pen.

Miles Mikolas got a no-decision in his first major league start, allowing three runs over 5 1/3 innings as the Rangers fell to the Orioles in a rain-soaked game on Wednesday. Mikolas had made 27 relief appearances for the Rangers over the last two seasons, but this was his first major league start (and his 2014 debut). The right-hander allowed seven hits -- including a solo home run to Adam Jones -- while walking two and striking out four. Mikolas took the place of Joe Saunders, who was designated for assignment, in the rotation. He'll match up against the Astros at home in his next start.

Rangers recalled RHP Miles Mikolas from Triple-A Round Rock. He'll take the place of Joe Saunders on the active roster and will slide into the rotation to start Wednesday against the Orioles. It will be his first major league start and he's not a fantasy option for the assignment. As a result of the change in the rotation, Nick Tepesch will have his next start pushed back to Friday against the Mets.

Miles Mikolas has been cleared to resume throwing after exams revealed no structural damage in his pitching elbow. Mikolas had a solid season in 2013, posting a 3.25 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 40/17 K/BB ratio in 61 innings of relief at Triple-A Tucson. Unless he has an outstanding spring, he's unlikely to crack the Opening Day bullpen.

Miles Mikolas is nursing some soreness in his pitching elbow. The Rangers are monitoring the situation but haven't offered more details at this point. Even if healthy, Mikolas probably is a long shot to crack the Rangers' Opening Day roster.
