Mikolas (personal) will remain on the paternity list through Friday and return to make a start in of Saturday's doubleheader games against the Cubs, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This was expected to be the plan, and Langosch's report confirms it. The right-hander will look to start building on a stellar first half in which he compiled a 10-3 record, 2.79 ERA and 1.05 WHIP across 119.1 innings.

Across 19 appearances with the Cardinals this year, he's posted a 2.79 ERA and 1.05 WHIP with 83 strikeouts in 119.1 innings. In a corresponding move, Matt Bowman was recalled from the minors.

Mikolas allowed three runs on six hits and two walks in four innings on Sunday, taking the no-decision in the victory over Cincinnati. He struck out just two batters.
EDGE Analysis
Mikolas needed 85 pitches to finish off four innings despite allowing just three baserunners in the first three innings. However, the 29-year-old barely finished the fourth inning, allowing five hits and all three runs during the nightmare inning. He finishes off the first half with a 2.79 ERA and 83:20 K:BB in 119.1 innings. Mikolas will take on the Cubs in Chicago next Sunday.

Mikolas will not be on the active roster for the All-Star Game and will instead start Sunday's first-half finale against the Reds, Jenifer Langosch and Max Gelman of MLB.com report.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander had been the team's only All-Star selection before Yadier Molina was named as the injury replacement for the Giants' Buster Posey (hip). Mikolas could have still been allowed to work an inning in Tuesday's Midsummer Classic, but the Cardinals have already made an official request that he be replaced on the National League active roster. Mikolas will enter Sunday's start with a 10-3 record, 2.65 ERA,1.01 WHIP and 81:18 K:BB across 115.2 innings.

Mikolas (9-3) allowed two runs on seven hits and four walks with three strikeouts through six innings in a victory Wednesday over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Mikolas walked more than two batters for the first time all season, but it didn't slow him down at all. When Mikolas was hitting his spots, the Diamondbacks couldn't do anything with it, as none of their seven hits went for extra bases and they hit into 10 flyball outs. Mikolas continues to succeed with low strikeout numbers, as he'll take a 2.63 ERA in to his next start Tuesday against the White Sox despite just a 6.2 K/9.

Mikolas (7-2) struck out five and walked zero in a loss to the Padres on Tuesday, allowing three runs on six hits in six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Mikolas has now lost two of his last three starts, although he's posted quality starts in all three outings. The 29-year-old still holds an excellent 2.43 ERA and 0.96 WHIP to go along with a 63:9 K:BB in 85.1 innings. He'll look to get back in the win column in his next start on the road against the Phillies.

Mikolas (7-1) tossed seven innings, allowing one unearned run on three hits, a walk and five strikeouts in Thursday's 4-1 win over Miami.
EDGE Analysis
Mikolas wasted no time getting back in the win column after taking his only loss of the season his last time out. Seeing MLB action for the first time since 2014, the 6-foot-5 righty is one of this season's breakout stars. He owns a shiny 2.27 ERA and a stellar 58:9 K:BB ratio across 79.1 innings. Mikolas will take the mound again next week at home against the Padres.

He's sporting an excellent 2.49 ERA and 1.00 WHIP while holding opponents to a .234 batting average. His next start will come against the Marlins at home.
