Rangers manager Ron Washington acknowledged that Mike Adams (calf) could be sidelined several days. Adams was struck in the left calf by a line drive during an exhibition game Tuesday against Diablos Rojos of the Mexican League. He only suffered a contusion, but it's obviously affecting his ability to deliver pitches. The setup man should avoid the disabled list and be ready to make regular-season appearances by early next week.

Mike Adams (groin surgery) has begun playing long toss. Adams underwent surgery on January 3 and was given a timetable of 4-6 weeks before he returned to action. The long toss is the first step in the recovery process, and it's not clear when he might be able to begin throwing from a mound. He shouldn't need too many spring training appearances to be ready for the start of the season.

Mike Adams tossed a scoreless 11th inning to earn the win in Monday's Game 2 ALCS contest. This is what the Rangers hoped for when they acquired Adams before this year's trade deadline. Although Adams has not been as dominant since joining the American League, he remains a premier reliever and a key component of the Rangers' postseason run.
