Michael Morse is not in the Giants' lineup Sunday. Morse just took over as the starter at first base while Brandon Belt (thumb) is out, but manager Bruce Bochy thought he needed a rest since he's in a 4-for-27 slump. Joaquin Arias is at first base Sunday.

Giants manager Bruce Bochy said Saturday that Michael Morse will be the team's primary first baseman while Brandon Belt is sidelined with a broken thumb. Morse is off to a nice start in his first season with the Giants, slashing .276/.325/.552 with eight homers and 24 RBI in his first 36 games. With Tyler Colvin recalled from Triple-A on Saturday, the Giants added additional depth in the outfield to help the situation.

Mike Morse went 2-for-4 with a solo home run against the Braves on Friday. Morse has hit safely in eight out of his last nine games and is batting .311/.357/.611 with seven home runs and 21 RBI so far this season. We're still skeptical about his ability to hold up as a regular left fielder, but the 32-year-old has been quite the find for the Giants and an excellent value for fantasy owners.

Michael Morse went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in a win over the Rockies on Wednesday. Morse now has five home runs on the year. For some comparison, Giants left fielders hit just five home runs over the entire 2013 season. Morse has 15 RBI to go with those five homers, and Morse now has an .897 OPS. He should continue to bat near the middle of the Giants' order, meaning those RBI opportunities will continue to come.

Michael Morse (hamstring) is not in the Giants starting lineup on Friday. Giants manager Bruce Bochy said that he's dealing with minor hamstring tightness. He's expected to return to the Giants lineup on Saturday.

Michael Morse went 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles and drove home a pair of runs in San Francisco's extra-innings loss against Arizona on Thursday. Morse is now slashing a blistering .400/.455/.733 to go with 10 RBI on the young season. The slugger is a notorious fast starter known to cool, which should absolutely be noted, but he's completely healthy now after an injury plagued 2013 season, and he shouldn't lack for RBI opportunities hitting behind the trio of Pablo Sandoval, Buster Posey and Hunter Pence all year. Morse should be owned in far more mixed leagues than he is currently.

Michael Morse singled twice and drove in a run in three at-bats against the Brewers on Tuesday. Morse came out after his five scheduled innings. The outfielder is making his way back from a calf injury, and the Giants are bringing him along slowly. Morse should still be ready for Opening Day.

Michael Morse (calf) and Angel Pagan (back) both played in a minor league game Thursday. The Giants are taking things slow with a pair of outfielders suffering from injuries that probably wouldn't be given much thought during the regular season. Of course, both have injury histories, so the due diligence is prudent.

Michael Morse (calf) is expected to return to Cactus League play in 4-5 days. Morse has been nursing a sore right calf for nearly a week and will need a few more days before being cleared to return to action. Barring a setback, the outfielder will be ready to roll for Opening Day.

Michael Morse is expected to miss a couple of days due to a mild right calf strain. It's a lingering issue for Morse, who originally injured his calf a few days ago. He was able to return to action earlier this week, but some additional rest will be required.
