Morse has been scratched from Sunday's lineup. A reason has not been provided by the team, but the timing suggests an injury is in play. Gregor Blanco will man left field in his absence with Adam Duvall moving up to the five-hole in the order.

With Brandon Belt (concussion) landing on the DL again, Morse will continue to see regular playing time at first base for the foreseeable future.

Morse is expected to return to the lineup Wednesday, Alex Pavlovic of the San Jose Mercury News reports. Manager Bruce Bochy clarified prior to Tuesday's game that Morse is fine physically, he just wanted to give the 32-year-old two straight days of rest. Juan C. Perez is making his second straight start Tuesday, but it sounds like Morse's role is relatively safe for the time being.

Perez will draw another start in left field, as Morse sits for a second straight day. There has been no word of an injury to Morse, so it seems manager Bruce Bochy is just more inclined to go with the better defender in Perez at the moment. Morse has chipped in just two homers since June 6, so he's done little to negate his struggles in the field.

Morse is out of the lineup Monday against the Mets.
