Cuddyer (hamstring) is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Royals.
A late scratch from Tuesday's lineup with left hamstring soreness, Cuddyer will sit again Wednesday as Brandon Barnes steps in at right field. Cuddyer is listed on the lineup card as a reserve and will be afforded another day of rest with the team off Thursday, but a return for Friday's opener against Miami is by no means a lock.

Cuddyer has been scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to left hamstring soreness.
Cuddyer made an impact immediately upon his reinstatement from the DL over the weekend, hitting for the cycle in Game 2 of Sunday's doubleheader, but the decision to play him in both games of the twin bill was perhaps short-sighted. He's already dealing with a hamstring issue but consider Cuddyer day-to-day until more information becomes available. Charlie Blackmon will move over to right field in his absence as Drew Stubbs mans center and bats second against right-hander James Shields.

Cuddyer (shoulder) went a collective 5-for-10 in his return from the DL for Sunday's doubleheader with the Reds, hitting for the cycle in Game 2. He finished the day with three RBI and four runs scored.
Cuddyer was activated from the DL on Saturday and was set to reenter the lineup, before a water main break near Coors Field resulted in the contest being postponed a day. Despite having his return from the left shoulder fracture temporarily delayed, Cuddyer appeared to be no worse for the wear, collecting a two-run double in the Rockies' five-run eighth inning to become the first Colorado hitter to record the cycle since Carlos Gonzalez turned the trick on July 31, 2010. Now healthy, Cuddyer should remain a fixture in the lineup in right field, likely relegating either Charlie Blackmon or Drew Stubbs to more frequent bench duty.

Cuddyer (shoulder) was activated from the DL and is back in the lineup Saturday against the Reds, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
Despite missing more than two months with the shoulder injury, Cuddyer will immediately slot into the two-hole Saturday to take on right-hander Dylan Axelrod. The 35-year-old has been limited to just 31 games so far this season, but he's performed when healthy, slashing .317/.366/.500 with five homers and 16 RBI. He'll likely occupy a spot in the top third of the order the rest of the way with Troy Tulowitzki (thigh) and Carlos Gonzalez (knee) out for the year.

Cuddyer (shoulder) could return to the Rockies during their weekend series with the Reds, Kirk Kenney of the Denver Post reports.
Cuddyer moved his rehab assignment from rookie-level Grand Junction to Double-A Tulsa on Tuesday, playing each of the last two days. He's hit the ball well and hasn't seemed to endure any setbacks while playing the field either, perhaps putting him on track for a return to the Rockies with a successful showing Thursday for Tulsa. Once Cuddyer returns to the lineup, Drew Stubbs or the slumping Charlie Blackmon figure to be at most at risk of losing out on at-bats.

Cuddyer (shoulder) went 5-for-7 at the dish over his two rehab games with rookie-level Grand Junction, collecting three doubles and three RBI.
The numbers don't really mean much considering the quality of competition, but by all accounts of those present, Cuddyer looked healthy during his two games. He played first base Thursday and will see time at designated hitter and in the outfield during the remainder of his rehab assignment, which will likely last six or seven more games. Expect Cuddyer to return to the Rockies next weekend if he's able to avoid any snags in his recovery.

Cuddyer (shoulder) will kick off a rehab assignment with rookie-level Grand Junction on Wednesday, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.
Cuddyer is expected to play three games with the rookie-level club, rotating between right field, first base and designated hitter. He's then expected to move his rehab to Double-A Tulsa beginning next Wednesday, where he'll be slated to play in four more games. That puts Cuddyer roughly on track to return Aug. 18, though the Rockies could easily adjust that if the 35-year-old bounces back from consecutive games better than anticipated.

According to CBS Sports' Jon Heyman, the Rockies intend to re-sign impending free agent Michael Cuddyer.
Which obviously means that the veteran outfielder won't be made available around the July 31 deadline. The Rockies have a crowded outfield (with some good, cost-controlled young players) but team owner Dick Monfort loves Cuddyer's presence in the clubhouse and the feeling is that he wouldn't attract much of a return package on the trade market because of his current shoulder injury. Negotiations toward a contract extension could begin later this summer.

Michael Cuddyer is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his injured shoulder on July 21.
It's at that time that a determination on his availability for the remainder of the season will be made. If his shoulder has healed sufficiently, he'll begin getting back into baseball shape with the hopes of rejoining the Rockies at some point in August. If it has not healed enough to this point, it could mean the end of the season for the veteran outfielder.
