Michael Cuddyer homered, doubled and knocked in three runs in the Rockies' 9-5 victory over the Dodgers on Thursday. Cuddyer lost his 27-game hitting streak on Tuesday, but he's responded by reaching base seven times the last two days. The homer tonight was his 15th. He may not reach his career high of 32 from 2009 this year, but he should get to 25 for the second time of his career as long as he stays relatively healthy.

Michael Cuddyer (ribs) will return to the Rockies' lineup on Thursday. Cuddyer was feeling well enough to play Wednesday, but with a day game Thursday, they decided to give him a bit more rest. He's hasn't played since last Thursday, when he suffered bruised ribs on a collision at first base. "Cuddy is feeling much better, but yesterday was the first physical day he had -- swinging the bat off a live arm -- and things went well," manager Walt Weiss said. "We'll give him one more day, especially since tomorrow is a day game, as opposed to running him out there tonight, then turning around and doing it again tomorrow. We'll give it another 24 hours."

Michael Cuddyer will not be placed on the disabled list. Cuddyer sat out Friday because of discomfort in his rib cage, but he does not have an oblique strain and should be ready to rock after a couple days of rest. The 34-year-old outfielder is batting .339/.397/.603 with 10 home runs and 37 RBI in 45 games this season.

Michael Cuddyer missed Friday's game due to a "rib strain." Cuddyer wasn't available Friday with "general soreness," but the injury is more serious than originally thought. The Denver Post speculates that Cuddyer may be dealing with an oblique strain and could be placed on the disabled list. With both Cuddyer and Carlos Gonzalez sidelined, the Rockies could call up Tyler Colvin or Charlie Blackmon from Triple-A Colorado Springs.
