Brantley had an MRI on Friday that did not show any structural damage, and he received a cortisone shot to help alleviate the discomfort. Indians manager Terry Francona indicated Sunday that Brantley likely would not be available until Monday, and while he will at least get in the lineup, it is unclear when he will be able to return to the field. I think the best thing he could do would be swing the bat Sunday because I don't want him to go cold turkey into a game." It appears to be little more than a maintenance day for Brantley, who will be able to take advantage of two days of rest with the Indians off the schedule Monday. He's expected to be ready to play again Tuesday, when the Indians open up a series with the Mariners.
