Boyd won't start Friday against the Tigers as the doubleheader was rained out, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd was originally set to take the mound in Game 1, but the Tigers changed their pitching plans after the contest was delayed by rain, and the twin bill was eventually postponed. One game will be made up via a doubleheader Saturday, and the veteran lefty will take the mound for Game 1. Tarik Skubal will start the nightcap for the Tigers.

Boyd is no longer starting Game 1 of Friday's doubleheader against the Twins, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd was expected to take the mound for the matinee, but the Tigers are now bumping up Tarik Skubal to start for undisclosed reasons. The Twins shifted their starting plans for the twin bill due to the expected rain during the afternoon, but it's unclear if that's the reasoning for the Tigers' change in starters. There was no indication of any injury, so Boyd tentatively lines up to start Game 2 until the team updates his status.

Boyd will start the first game of Friday's doubleheader against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd was initially scheduled to start Thursday's game before the contest was postponed. However, he'll start just one day later as part of a twin bill. The Tigers likely won't need to make any changes to the rotation in the coming days since the team has two scheduled off days next week.

Boyd's scheduled start against the Twins on Thursday was postponed, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The two teams decided not to play Thursday's contest in protest of the recent police shooting of Jacob Blake. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader Friday, and Boyd will likely take the mound for one of the two games of the twin bill.

Boyd (0-4) allowed two earned runs on five hits and a walk while striking out six across 5.1 innings to take the loss Saturday against Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd had his best start of the season, only his second without allowing a home run. He did not surrender a run while in the game, but exited the contest with runners on first and second that the bullpen allowed to score. It's been an ugly start to the campaign for Boyd, as he has an 8.48 ERA and has allowed 2.5 HR/9 across six starts and 28.2 innings. He'll look to build on this positive outing his next turn through the rotation, currently projected to come Thursday against Minnesota

Boyd (0-3) allowed three earned runs on four hits and two walks while striking out nine across four innings to take the loss Monday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd started the game in abysmal fashion, surrendering back-to-back home runs to Tim Anderson and Yoan Moncada. After allowing another home run to Anderson in the second inning, Boyd did settle in to retire the final seven batters he faced. On a positive note, Boyd also racked up 16 swinging strikes on 90 total pitches to put together his best strikeout performance of the season. However, to be effective, he has to find a way to keep in the yard as he has now allowed 3.1 HR/9, which has led to a horrific 9.64 ERA across 23.1 innings. He'll look to turn things around in his next start, currently projected to come Saturday at Cleveland.

Boyd (0-2) took the loss Wednesday against the White Sox after allowing seven runs on seven hits with five strikeouts and three walks across 4.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander's performance was eerily similar to his previous outing, as he also surrendered seven runs over 4.2 innings with five strikeouts and three walks Friday versus the Pirates. Boyd is off to a terrible start with a 10.24 ERA, 1.97 WHIP and 18:8 K:BB through 19.1 innings, and he lines up to face the White Sox again next week.

Boyd didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 17-13 extra-innings win over the Pirates, coughing up seven runs on eight hits and three walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Making his first trip to the mound since July 29 after Detroit's series against St. Louis was postponed, Boyd had difficulty locating his pitches. The southpaw threw 58 of 95 offerings for strikes, and when he did get the ball over the plate, he caught too much of it. Boyd has yet to find the ace-level form he's flashed the last two seasons, but his 13:5 K:BB through 14.2 innings at least suggests his 9.20 ERA and 1.91 WHIP are due for some major regression. His next start is scheduled for Wednesday, at home against the White Sox.

Boyd will start Friday against the Pirates, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd had been scheduled to start Tuesday against St. Louis, but that entire four-game midweek series was scrapped due to the Cardinals' coronavirus outbreak. The Tigers will use the unexpected days off to reset their rotation, going with their Opening Day starter for their first day back in action. Boyd has failed to impress in either of his first two starts of the season, allowing eight runs on 15 hits over 10 innings of work.

Boyd will not make his scheduled start Tuesday against St. Louis as the series has been postponed due to the Cardinals' coronavirus outbreak, Mark Saxon of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
13 members of the Cardinals organization have tested positive for the virus, including seven players. The Tigers have yet to announce their rotation plans for their weekend series in Pittsburgh, which remains on the schedule, but Boyd presumably will start Friday's game.
