As expected, Boyd (knee) will start Sunday's series finale against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd's bout with left knee tendinitis forced him to miss his previous turn through the rotation earlier in the week, but the Tigers' decision not to place him on the injured list was an indication that the club wasn't expecting him to miss any further starts. The lefty apparently came out of his pre-start bullpen session without issue, so he shouldn't face any limitations Sunday as he picks up his first start of May.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said during an appearance on MLB Network Radio on SiriusXM that Boyd will start Sunday against the Twins "if all things continue to progress" with his sore left knee.
EDGE Analysis
The Tigers' decision not to place Boyd on the injured list after he was removed from his April 29 start due to knee tendinitis would seem to support the notion that the southpaw is trending toward a return to action this weekend. Though Boyd remains on the active roster, he'll still end up missing one turn through the rotation. Michael Fulmer will pick up a start Tuesday against the Red Sox in place of Boyd in what Hinch suggested will likely be a bullpen game.

Boyd (knee) is likely to miss his turn through the rotation next week but may not require a trip to the injured list, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager A.J. Hinch indicated Friday the early returns were positive after the left-hander was pulled from Thursday's start with left knee tendinitis. Even if Boyd gets placed on the IL, he could still end up missing only the one start since the Tigers have scheduled off days the next two Mondays.

Boyd was pulled from Thursday's start against the White Sox due to left knee tendinitis.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd exited the game after completing only one inning and throwing 36 pitches. It's positive news that he did not suffer an arm injury, though it remains unclear if he will be forced to miss additional time.

Boyd exited Thursday's start with an apparent injury, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd left the game after completing only one inning, though he faced two batters in the second frame. There was no official injury announcement, but Boyd had thrown only 36 pitches and exited with trainers.

Boyd (2-2) allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits across eight innings but took the loss Saturday against the Royals. He struck out three and did not issue any walks.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd got virtually no support in this one, as the Detroit bats mustered only three hits and one run. Still, the lefty was able to continue his strong start to the season. Through five starts, Boyd has a sparkling 1.82 ERA, though he's managed just 22 strikeouts across 34.2 innings. He had a K/9 of 9.0 or better in each of the last two seasons, so perhaps the whiffs will start to come. Boyd will look to keep things rolling in his next scheduled outing Thursday against the White Sox.

Boyd allowed two runs on four hits across 7.1 innings and did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Athletics. He walked one and struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
That's now three straight quality starts for Boyd, who narrowly missed another one on Opening Day when he didn't allow a run across 5.2 innings. The good stretch has translated to a 2.03 ERA and 0.98 WHIP for the lefty, and the only thing missing has been strikeouts, as Boyd has only 19 through 26.2 innings. He may need to start missing more bats to sustain this level of success moving forward, but fantasy managers aren't complaining about the performance so far. Boyd will look to keep it rolling Saturday against the Royals.

Boyd (2-1) allowed one run across 6.2 innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Astros. He gave up six hits and a walk while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd did well against a strong Houston lineup and didn't allow any flyballs to leave the park, which has been a problem in the past for the lefty. The strikeouts have yet to come for Boyd, as he has just 14 across 19.1 innings so far, but fantasy managers can't complain with his 2-1 record or 1.86 ERA through three appearances. He will look to keep things rolling on the road against the Athletics Sunday

Boyd (1-1) was charged with the loss Wednesday versus the Twins after allowing three runs on seven hits with eight strikeouts and zero walks over seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
The left-hander pitched well throughout the afternoon, but a two-run double from Jorge Polanco during the sixth inning with the Tigers winning 2-1 proved to be the difference in the contest. Regardless, Boyd looked good for the second straight outing to begin the season after delivering 5.2 scoreless frames Opening Day, and he'll attempt to keep things rolling at Houston early next week.

Boyd (1-0) allowed three hits and four walks while striking out two over 5.2 scoreless innings to earn the win against Cleveland on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Boyd had only one scoreless appearance across his 12 starts in 2020, but he began the 2021 campaign on a high note. The southpaw allowed baserunners in five of the first six innings Thursday, and it's concerning that he only struck out two batters, but he still exceeded expectations. Boyd will attempt to remain effective at home against Minnesota on Wednesday.
