Wieters (elbow) threw from 90 feet Tuesday, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wieters has been slowly ramping up baseball activities, both throwing and hitting, and reported that his elbow felt good following Tuesday's session. Manager Buck Showalter indicated he was optimistic the 29-year-old would be ready to go by Opening Day, but the club would likely want to see him back in spring training action before making an official determination.

Wieters (elbow) took batting practice and threw from a distance of 60 feet Sunday, Eduardo A. Encina of the Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Buck Showalter hasn't ruled out the possibility of Wieters opening the season on the DL due to the elbow issue, that appears to be only a worse-case scenario, as the catcher seems to be progressing positively in the last few days. He'll likely continue to increase his throwing distance while taking batting practice again throughout the early portion of the week, before potentially making a return to action in a minor-league game a few days after that.

Wieters went through live batting practice Saturday, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.
EDGE Analysis
After hitting off of a pitching machine Friday, Wieters has progressed to live BP and said his right elbow is feeling "a little better each day." Wieters is yet to be cleared to throw, however, as the Orioles continue to take things slowly. "Dr. (James) Andrews said he wants me to be cautious about throwing and make sure everything's getting back to tip-top shape and go through a program, but as far as hitting, he said I could go back to doing that however I feel comfortable," Wieters said.

Wieters (elbow) hit off a pitching machine Friday, Rich Dubroff of CSNmidatlantic.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is a step forward, but there has been no word yet on when Wieters might be cleared to resume throwing. Wieters left a game last weekend in the first inning with soreness in his surgically-repaired right elbow. X-rays were negative and an MRI came back clean, but his status for the start of the year is undeniably cloudy with about two weeks left in spring training.

Wieters (elbow) says he is not throwing or hitting, though he is working on baseball activities, MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Baseball activities can be a frustrating term, not knowing what the workout entails given that Wieters is not doing two of the core baseball functions. The fact he is not throwing or hitting is a concern, though he says he is feeling better each day. At this point we don't know if Wieters could be in jeopardy of missing Opening Day, or if his workload will be shared with Caleb Joseph as much as it was last year.

Wieters' MRI results came back clean, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is excellent news, as Wieters appears to have avoided any major injury. The Orioles are planning on taking things day by day with their catcher, but as long as nothing more severe develops, Wieters should be fine after the soreness goes away.

Wieters (elbow) is scheduled for an MRI on Monday, Rich Dubroff of CSN Mid-Atlantic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wieters had an X-ray on Saturday that came back clean, but the Orioles are likely being extra cautious with their everyday catcher considering his history of elbow troubles. Manager Buck Showalter said that the backstop has shown progress and has gotten better every day, but the results of the MRI will likely dictate how the Orioles handle Wieters' situation going forward.

Wieters (elbow) said Sunday his soreness is minor but it appears he will miss at least several days of action, MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Obviously the elbow injury is a concern to Wieters. The club may give him an MRI in a few days, but the X-ray that came back clean Saturday was a good sign. The Orioles will certainly play things cautiously given Wieters had Tommy John surgery two years ago and did not catch on consecutive days last year.

X-rays on Wieters' elbow looked good Saturday, and no MRI is scheduled, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Buck Showalter said he hopes it is just routine spring soreness that forced Wieters from Saturday's spring game. He felt discomfort on a throw to second base, and the Orioles will give him a couple days to rest his throwing arm. His status should be updated next week. Meanwhile Caleb Joseph is dealing with an illness, so Francisco Pena could see some action behind the dish in the short term this spring.
