Matt Harrison received a second epidural injection in his ailing back on Saturday. Harrison evidently is not progressing as quickly as hoped and has yet to resume throwing. He will be re-evaluated later this week before the Rangers decide which step to take next. Harrison had been hoping to return when eligible, but that's looking unlikely.

Matt Harrison received an epidural injection in his back on Sunday. Harrison has felt better over the past two days, but the Rangers placed him on the disabled list Wednesday. The southpaw hopes to return as soon as he's eligible, but we should know more about his status in the coming days.

Rangers placed LHP Matt Harrison on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to April 7, with a lower back strain. Harrison was already expected to miss a start, but the Rangers have decided to play things safe early in the season. Justin Grimm will be called up to start in his place Thursday against King Felix and the Mariners.

Matt Harrison (back) is unlikely to make his scheduled start Thursday against the Mariners. Harrison has been battling lower back soreness since his last start. He's beginning to show improvement, but the Rangers are probably going to play it safe with the 27-year-old left-hander. Harrison struggled mightily in his first two outings of the 2013 regular season.

Matt Harrison dealt with lower back soreness in his last outing but is still scheduled to make his start on Thursday. That's assuming he doesn't encounter a setback between now and then, of course. Harrison has struggled in his first two starts this season, posting an 8.44 ERA and 1.97 WHIP. He faces the Mariners Thursday.

Despite striking out nine, Matt Harrison lost to the Astros after giving up six runs -- five earned -- in 5 2/3 innings on Sunday night. Harrison started off with three scoreless innings, then he started leaving balls up. He departed in the sixth having allowed four runs, and Derek Lowe immediately gave up a three-run homer after taking over, inflating Harrison's ERA.

Matt Harrison struggled in his final Cactus League tune-up Tuesday, giving up four runs -- three earned -- over 3 1/3 innings against the White Sox. He gave up seven hits -- including a home run -- and a walk while striking out one. The Rangers' Opening Day starter, Harrison finishes Cactus League play with a 5.11 ERA, but he entered today with a 4.00 mark and 1.11 WHIP. He remains a worthy end-game play in mixed formats.

The Rangers have named Matt Harrison their Opening Day starter. It came down to him or Yu Darvish, but it will be Harrison in the opener and Darvish in the second game of the season. Harrison has won 32 games while posting a 3.34 ERA over the past two seasons for the Rangers.

Matt Harrison had it going Saturday, allowing only one hit in five innings in the Rangers 4-0 victory over the Dodgers. The 27-year-old lefty looks to be past the toe injury that forced him to miss a start earlier this spring. Harrison won 18 games last year and the Rangers will count on him as one of their top starters this season.

Matt Harrison (toe) threw two innings in Tuesday's 'B' game against the Royals. Harrison was scratched from his scheduled start last week due to inflammation of the second toe on his left foot. The Rangers have yet to indicate when he'll return to Cactus League action, but he should have not trouble getting ready for the start of the regular season.
