Matt Carpenter Sidelined Against Left-Hander rotoballer.com Sun 5/19/19 3:02 PM

St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Matt Carpenter is getting a breather on Sunday versus Rangers lefty Drew Smyly. It's a routine off-day for the 33-year-old who's having a disappointing season batting .206 with five homers. Carpenter has turned it around lately with hits in four of his last five games including a home run on Thursday. Look for Carpenter to keep his momentum going when the Royals come to town for a two-game set starting Tuesday.

Matt Carpenter Strikes Out Four Times on Tuesday rotoballer.com Tue 4/30/19 11:38 PM

St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter struck out four times on Tuesday, dropping his batting average to .202. He did draw a walk, but his slash line of .202/.328/.356 will be hard to keep at the top of the batting order in St. Louis. Carpenter had a slow start last season before blowing up, so perhaps the good is still on the way, but so far at least, Carpenter has been a liability.

The St. Louis Cardinals agreed to a contract extension with infielder Matt Carpenter on Wednesday, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch's Derrick Goold. Terms of the extension have yet to be released.

Matt Carpenter Dons a Golden Sombrero on Monday rotoballer.com Mon 4/1/19 7:18 PM

St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter struck out four times on Monday, finishing 0-for-5 with a walk. He ended his day with an ejection in extra innings. Carpenter is hitting at the top of the lineup for a strong offense, so he should be a fine fantasy contributor, but he's off to a slow start with a .190/.292/.381 slash line so far.
