St. Louis Cardinals infielder Matt Carpenter struck out four times on Tuesday, dropping his batting average to .202. He did draw a walk, but his slash line of .202/.328/.356 will be hard to keep at the top of the batting order in St. Louis. Carpenter had a slow start last season before blowing up, so perhaps the good is still on the way, but so far at least, Carpenter has been a liability.
