Gonzalez (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Friday's spring game against the Rays, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez will miss his second straight game after being scratched from Tuesday's game with a sore right shoulder. The Twins described the move as precautionary, but there's still no surprise that the 28-year-old is being held out of spring action for at least a few days.

Gonzalez (shoulder) is not in the lineup for Thursday's spring game against the Red Sox, according to Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez will be held out of the Twins' first game since Gonzalez was scratched from Tuesday's lineup due to soreness in his shoulder. Gonzalez's injury is not believed to be serious, so he should have a chance to return to action in Friday's exhibition contest.

Gonzalez was scratched from the lineup for Tuesday's exhibition game against the Rays due to right shoulder soreness, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ronald Torreyes will step in as the Twins' second baseman after Gonzalez was removed from the starting nine in a move Park describes as "very precautionary." Given that the switch-hitting Gonzalez is in line to serve as the club's top utility man this season, there's little reason for Minnesota to expose him to further injury in spring games when he's less than 100 percent healthy.

Gonzalez signed with the Twins on Friday, Jon Heyman of FancredSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez can play most positions on the diamond, and the Twins have a collection of roughly average regulars all over the field, so it remains to be seen where he'll most often be deployed. His respectable .247/.324/.409 line last season will make him a capable starter at most spots for a team which is trying to shake off a poor 2018 season and make a push for the playoffs.

The Astros did not extend Gonzalez the $17.9 million qualifying offer prior to Friday's deadline, Jeff Passan of Yahoo Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez is officially on the free-agent market after spending the past seven years within the Astros' system. Though he took a step back from his breakout campaign in 2017, the 29-year-old still provided solid value as a swiss-army knife for Houston this past season, slashing .247/.324/.409 with 16 home runs and 68 RBI.

Gonzalez (back) is starting at second base and hitting fifth in Game 3 of the ALCS against the Red Sox on Tuesday, Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez won't be forced to miss any action after colliding with the outfield wall during the Astros' 7-5 loss in Game 2 loss on Sunday. The utility man will man second base while Jose Altuve gets a turn at DH and Tony Kemp starts in the outfield. Gonzalez is 1-for-8 with a two-run homer through the first two games of the series.

Gonzalez said he's still nursing a sore neck and back after crashing into the outfield wall in Sunday's 7-5 loss to the Red Sox, but he hopes to be available Tuesday for Game 3 of the ALCS, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to running into the Green Monster while tracking a Steve Pearce fly ball in the bottom of the third, Gonzalez gave the Astros a 4-2 lead with a home run off David Price in the top half of the frame. Gonzalez was evaluated by the Astros' training staff after failing to corral Pearce's hit and was ultimately allowed to stay in the game, though the left fielder noted afterward that he required an IV treatment an inning later. With an off-day Monday, Gonzalez believes the lingering soreness in his back and neck will subside enough for him to return to the lineup for Game 3.
