Manager A.J. Hinch said Gonzalez (oblique) has been ruled out for the remainder of Houston's series against the Twins, which runs through Wednesday, Hunter Atkins of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez exited Monday's series opener with right oblique discomfort, and the Astros wasted no time ruling him out for the final two games of the series. With Houston off the schedule Thursday, the hope is that Gonzalez will be able to return to the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the Red Sox following three full days of rest.

Gonzalez exited Monday's game against Minnesota with right oblique discomfort, Hunter Atkins of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The fact that the issue is being described as "discomfort" suggests that the Astros believe it to be a minor one, though a full diagnosis may not come until after the game. Tony Kemp would likely see more playing time in left field should Gonzalez be out for a significant period.

Gonzalez is not in the lineup versus the Athletics on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez will receive a breather for the first time all month as Tony Kemp gets a nod in the outfield during the series finale. Across 23 games this month, Gonzalez is hitting .333/.394/.667 with eight home runs and 20 RBI. Look for him to rejoin the starting lineup Thursday.

Gonzalez went 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, an RBI and two runs scored in Monday's 11-4 win over the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez extended his hitting streak to eight games, a stretch in which he's knocked in runs in six of the eight games. He's gone 14-for-34 (.412) with four home runs, 12 RBI and nine runs scored during his streak. Gonzalez's year-long slump has been problematic for fantasy owners who bought into his breakout 2017 campaign, but this recent stretch provides some hope that he can deliver on some of that investment.

Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored Saturday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez homered for the second consecutive game and for the fourth time in his past six starts. That hot stretch has extended throughout August, as Gonzalez has now accounted for more than half of his home runs for the season in the month. He has batted fifth in the lineup of late, which could afford him more chances for RBI and runs scored.

Gonzalez went 1-for-4 with a solo home run Sunday against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez took Emilio Pagan deep in the eighth inning for his 11th home run of the season. Though he has struggled to follow up on his breakout 2017 season, he now has five home runs in August after failing to record more than two in any other month.

Gonzalez went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run in Monday's 3-1 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez accounted for all the runs when his ninth-inning, three-run blast of San Francisco closer Will Smith erased a frustrating night for Houston's bats. Houston had one man reach scoring position and no hits since the third inning before Gonzalez pulled it out. He has eight hits and four home runs on the current three-city road trip, including three homers from the right side of the plate. Prior to this trip, he hadn't homered from that side of the plate.

Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with a home run, two RBI and three runs scored in Saturday's 14-0 win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez has homered three times in the last three games, giving us another hopeful indication that he's on the verge of putting together a sustained stretch of production that's eluded him all season long. The super utility player, whose high point this season was June 18 when he had a .259 average, is currently slashing .232/.316/.375.

Gonzalez went 2-for-5 with two solo home runs in Wednesday's 8-3 win over the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
He struck out in his other three at-bats, but it was still a much-needed big day for Gonzalez, who hadn't homered since June 27. He has only eight home runs on the year along with a sluggish .231/.313/.368 slash line, and while it's clear he won't be able to repeat his breakout 2017 numbers, the 29-year-old could still out together a decent final two months.

Gonzalez started in left field and went 0-for-3 in Monday's 2-0 loss to the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Gonzalez has gone 14 at-bats without a hit, dropping his average to .228. Like several other points during this season, Gonzalez had exhibited signs of breaking out of a season-long slump only to have the slump return immediately -- he had a a seven-game hitting streak before this most recent slide. His versatility has been needed of late, as Gonzalez has been the primary starter at shortstop with Carlos Correa (back) on the disabled list and he can also spot in at second base while Jose Altuve (knee) is absent. But as Correa is about the embark on a rehabilitation assignment and with a productive Tony Kemp around to play left field, Gonzalez could lose at-bats once all of Houston's injured players return.
