Mark Teixeira (knee) is not in the lineup for the second straight game Saturday. As expected. Teixeira reported little improvement with his sore knee Friday, and he might sit out all weekend. Nick Swisher is getting another start at first base.

Mark Teixeira hasn't felt much improvement with his right knee. "Not as good as I would have liked," said Teixeira, who sat out Friday's game. "Not that much better today, so hopefully another night's sleep will help it." The Yankees' first baseman has also been dealing with some pain in his hamstring, so we wouldn't be surprised if he gets at least another day to rest.

Mark Teixeira has been diagnosed with a bruised right knee and is considered day-to-day. Teixeira was struck in the knee by a pitch during Thursday's game against the rival Red Sox. He was able to play a couple more innings after the HBP and should be fine after a day or two of rest. Nick Swisher filled in for him at first base.

Mark Teixeira homered from both sides of the plate on Tuesday for a record 12th time in his career. He broke the record held jointly by former stars Eddie Murray and Chili Davis. The homers were Teixeira's 30th and 31st of the season.

Mark Teixeira hit his 29th home run in Friday's loss to the Orioles. It was a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth inning. Teixeira has homered four times in his last seven games and is now just two behind Jose Bautista for the major-league lead.

Mark Teixeira belted a grand slam in Friday's win over the A's. It was about as bad as it gets for A's reliever Michael Wuertz, as he walked in a pair of runs before serving up Teixeira's blast. Predictably, it was his only hit on the night, as Tex has becoming something of an all-or-nothing hitter at the dish. He has 26 homers and 71 RBI on the year but is batting just .240.

Mark Teixeira will not participate in the 2011 Home Run Derby. Said the slugger, "If I'm not on the team, I'm not going to go to the Home Run Derby. It's just too long of a trip and I'm going to spend those days with my family." Teixeira finished seventh in his lone derby appearance, back in 2005 at Comerica Park.
