Marco Scutaro has been diagnosed with a left hip injury and will undergo X-rays. Scutaro was injured in the first inning of Monday's game when Matt Holliday took him out on a rough slide at second base. He remained in the game for five innings despite being noticeably hobbled, but the Giants eventually thought better of it and pulled him. The Giants should have an update on his status later Monday.

Marco Scutaro left Monday's NLCS Game 2 against the Cardinals with an apparent left leg injury. Scutaro was injured in the first inning when Matt Holliday took him out on a rough slide at second base. He stayed in the game through five innings and contributed a huge run-scoring single in the fourth, but he was clearly gimpy and was eventually talked out of the lineup. Scutaro was replaced at second base by Ryan Theriot.

Marco Scutaro went 3-for-5 and knocked in three runs Saturday against the Padres. Scutaro is working on a 12-game hitting streak, but that's only half the story. He's reached at least twice in all but one of the games and scored in 10 of them. He's also gone nine straight games without striking out. He now has 38 RBI in 53 games for San Francisco after driving in a total of 30 runs in 95 games for the Rockies.

Marco Scutaro told Andrew Baggarly of CSNBayArea.com that he would like to return to the Giants next season. Scutaro wasn't too thrilled when he was traded from the Rockies in July, but it hasn't taken him long to get comfortable in his return to the Bay Area. "I would love to come back here," said Scutaro, an impending free agent. "I really love it here. There are great fans, it's a great place to play. More important, it's a place where you have a chance to win every year." Scutaro is willing to sign during the team's exclusive negotiating window after the season and Baggarly hears that the Giants "will make every effort" to keep him since they don't have any major-league ready alternatives at second base. Scutaro, who turns 37 in October, is batting .293/.336/.388 with six home runs, 60 RBI, nine stolen bases and a .724 OPS in 139 games played this season between the Giants and Rockies.

Marco Scutaro got the big hit in Friday's 5-2 win over the Dodgers, untying a 2-2 game with a two-run single off Josh Beckett in the seventh. Scutaro's making a habit of this in a Giants uniform. San Francisco's second baseman finished his night 2-for-5. Six weeks shy of his 37th birthday, Scutaro is batting .331 with 26 RBI in 39 games since coming over from Colorado.

Marco Scutaro went 3-for-6 and delivered the game-winning single in the bottom of the 10th as the Giants beat the Diamondbacks 9-8 on Monday. The Giants scored in the seventh, eighth, ninth and 10th innings to win their third straight game. Scutaro also played a big role when they tied the game in the ninth, as he doubled and scored on Buster Posey's hit. With a .322 average and 23 RBI in 146 at-bats since coming over from the Rockies, he's been a nice upgrade over Ryan Theriot at second base for the Giants.
