Weaver, who started the first eight games of his major league career in 2016, is a candidate for the fifth starter job in the wake of Alex Reyes' season-ending elbow injury, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old right-hander had a rough introduction to the big leagues, going 1-4 with a 5.70 ERA, 1.60 WHIP and .311 average against over 36.1 innings. Nevertheless, after an impressive two-plus seasons in the Cardinals' organization that included a 15-9 record and 1.78 ERA over 38 starts, Weaver will have a chance to earn the job, with Michael Wacha and former closer Trevor Rosenthal also vying for the spot.

Weaver was moved to the bullpen Friday, Jenifer Langosch of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver's big league career started off fairly auspiciously, but after two rough outings, the Cardinals decided that they'd like to have him pitch in relief the rest of the season. Jaime Garcia will rejoin the rotation in his place, although the top prospect will likely compete for a spot in the rotation next season given his high promise and nasty pitch repertoire.

Weaver (1-4) allowed six runs on seven hits, struck out one and walked one over just two innings in a tough loss against the Rockies on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
It was a rough start from the get-go, as he allowed a single to the first batter, who eventually went to third on an error charged to Weaver. He would have scored anyway, though, because Colorado recorded two more hits in the frame. In the second, Weaver was an out away from stranding the bases loaded and the score 2-1, but instead, he tossed up a grand slam. He has failed to pitch past three innings in each of his last two outings. Weaver owns a 4.54 ERA, 1.49 WHIP and 44 strikeouts in 35.2 innings.

Weaver (1-3) lost after allowing six runs (none earned) on five hits in 2.2 innings during Friday's 8-2 loss to the Giants. He walked two and struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
The shortest outing of Weaver's career was a strange one, as he allowed six unearned runs in the third inning after Yadier Molina's throwing error opened the floodgates. Bad inning aside, the 23-year-old rookie has been excellent since debuting on August 13, flashing a 3.21 ERA over seven starts while racking up 43 strikeouts in 33.2 innings. Weaver has a tough test ahead of him when he faces the Rockies at Coors Field on Wednesday.

Weaver lasted just four innings Tuesday in Pittsburgh, allowing two runs on six hits while striking out five without a walk.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver was at 85 pitches when he was pulled after four innings. It's a shame he couldn't last longer, as St. Louis had amassed a 5-2 advantage up to that point. As a result, the rookie will still be in search of an elusive second win when he and the Cardinals play host to an inferior Brewers team Sunday.

Weaver (1-2) struck out 10 hitters over six innings Wednesday in Milwaukee, but gave up three runs on just four hits and a walk and was charged with the loss.
EDGE Analysis
All three runs came on a single swing of the bat by Brewers outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis, who launched a three-run homer off Weaver in the third inning. Other than that, the 23-year-old rookie was nearly untouchable, continuing to build on a strong start to his MLB career. After posting spectacular numbers in the minors this season -- a 2.49 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 92:12 K:BB over 83 innings, mostly in Double-A -- and opening strong in the big leagues, Weaver should be a priority add for fantasy owners down the stretch, as he appears quite likely to hold onto his rotation spot.

Weaver (0-1) gave up three earned runs on nine hits over five innings in Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Phillies. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
The rookie was able to get 65 of his 96 offerings into the strike zone, as well as notch 12 swinging strikes overall. The performance was a step up in both innings and pitch count from his four-inning major league debut versus the Cubs last Saturday. He'll look to continue climbing the ladder when he takes on the A's next Friday.

Weaver gave up two earned runs on four hits and three walks over four innings in his major league debut, but did not factor into the decision against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
The Cardinals No. 3 prospect was serviceable over his four frames, particularly when factoring in the tough matchup against a potent Cubs offense at Wrigley field. Weaver's only mistake was the two-run homer he surrendered to Addison Russell in the second, and he fired 50 of 85 pitches for strikes overall. Weaver will look to be more efficient in his next start, which will come next Saturday against the Phillies.

Weaver's contract was officially purchased from Triple-A Memphis on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Weaver will come up to start Saturday's matchup with the Cubs. The Cardinals' No. 3 prospect has torn through the minor leagues, faring well at both High-A Palm Beach (1.62 ERA) and Double-A Springfield (1.40 ERA) before a recent promotion to Triple-A Memphis. The 22-year-old will oppose Chicago's Kyle Hendricks as the Cubs enter the matchup riding an 11-game winning streak.

Weaver is expected to make his major league debut Saturday against the Cubs, Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver, the Cardinals number two rated prospect in their minor league system, has excelled at every higher level in his ascent through the farm system. In 2015 with High-A Palm Beach, the righty went 8-5 with a 1.62 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 105.1 innings. This season with Double-A Springfield, he went 6-3 with an even better 1.40 ERA and 0.95 WHIP over 77 innings. Weaver was then promoted to Triple-A Memphis this past week and made one start, tossing six innings of scoreless ball en route to the win. The 22-year-old will likely be called up prior to Saturday's game and looks to match up against Kyle Hendricks and the high-powered Cubs offense.
