Weaver (0-1) took the loss Friday, giving up two runs on five hits over 6.1 innings while striking out eight as Arizona fell 1-2 to San Diego.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander threw 62 of 92 pitches for strikes while delivering his first quality start of the season, but the D-backs only managed three hits off Chris Paddack and the Padres' bullpen. Weaver will carry a 5.17 ERA and sharp 15:4 K:BB through 15.2 innings into his next outing Thursday in Atlanta.

Weaver didn't factor into the decision Saturday, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks over five innings while striking out four in a 5-4 win over the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander was in line for his first win of the season before Yoshihisa Hirano and Archie Bradley combined to give up the tying run in the seventh inning. Weaver was far from sharp, throwing 53 of 84 pitches for strikes and starting less than half the batters he faced (10 of 21) off with first-pitch strikes, but the performance was still an improvement on his last time out. He'll look to take another step forward Friday, at home against the Padres.

Weaver allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits and two walks in 4.1 innings of work in Sunday's loss to the Dodgers. He struck out three and took the no-decision.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver was a main piece of the trade that sent Paul Goldschmidt to the Cardinals, so this wasn't exactly the team debut that Arizona was hoping for. He got in trouble right off the bat, allowing three runs in the first and later a Cody Bellinger homer in the third. The 6-foot-2 righty will look to reverse his rough outing next weekend against San Diego.

Weaver (illness) allowed an unearned run on two hits and two walks while striking out five over six innings Monday against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver returned to the mound without issue after missing his last scheduled start due to illness. He'll be ready to go for the start of the regular season after proving his health.

Weaver was scratched from Wednesday's start because he was not feeling well, Jesse Sanchez of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It took an illness to slow down Weaver, who's posted a 1.59 ERA over 11.1 spring innings. Taylor Widener filled in for Weaver and threw three perfect innings.

Weaver allowed three hits, did not issue a walk and struck out four over five scoreless innings Thursday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver most pleased that he attacked hitters, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports. "I think more than anything I was coming right after guys," Weaver said. "I know in the first I fell behind in some counts, but I was able to bounce back in them and get some fly outs and ground outs. ... I think just being efficient overall with everything I had is a great thing to see." The five scoreless frames lowered Weavers's ERA to 1.59.

Weaver allowed one run on six hits while striking out three over 3.1 innings Saturday against the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver walked the line Saturday, putting runners in scoring position in each of the first three innings. He was able to avoid significant damage, which is a skill all pitchers need. "That was a big part of last year," Weaver told Steve Gilbert of MLB.com. "Sometimes those innings would get away from me. Today was a huge step in controlling the situation, throwing some good pitches and letting that defense work a little bit. So, there was a huge plus in that." The right-hander, who is penciled into the rotation, has allowed two runs on eight hits in 6.1 spring innings.

Weaver allowed one run on two hits and struck out three over three innings against the Reds on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
This was Weaver's second start of the spring, although his first against MLB compeition -- his first start was an exhibition against a Korean team on a backfield. Arizona's projected No. 4 starter worked his curveball, a point of emphasis for Weaver this spring, per Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. He was pleased with the effort overall but wasn't satisfied where his cutter is at right now.

The Cardinals traded Weaver, Carson Kelly, Andy Young and a 2019 Competitive Balance Round B draft pick to Arizona in exchange for Paul Goldschmidt on Wednesday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver started 25 games in 2018, but he was moved to a bullpen role a couple times throughout the season and wound up pitching in just two outings across the last four weeks of September. He finished the campaign with a 4.95 ERA and 1.50 WHIP to go along with an 8.0 K/9, which was noticeably down from his 10.7 mark the previous year. Looking ahead, the 25-year-old should have a place in Arizona's rotation, especially following the departures of Patrick Corbin and Clay Buchholz. Weaver will be under team control for the next five years after making his debut with St. Louis in 2016.

Weaver will work out of the bullpen moving forward, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Thanks to an off day Thursday, the Cardinals are able to proceed with a four-man rotation until next Monday, at which point Adam Wainwright (elbow) is expected to rejoin the rotation after a lengthy stay on the disabled list. Wainwright's return pushed both Weaver and Daniel Poncedeleon to the bullpen, though both will remain options to start down the stretch should an opportunity arise. While it's a small sample size, Weaver has fared better in relief this season, posting a 2.25 ERA across three appearances (four innings) compared to his 4.66 mark through 25 starts (129.1 innings).
