Weaver is healthy but was shut down for the season Wednesday, Jack Magruder of the Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver returned from a lengthy absence due to an elbow injury to make just one two-inning appearance Saturday. There's time for him to pitch again, and he's reportedly healthy enough to do so, but the Diamondbacks have little reason to push him with the playoffs out of reach. Another healthy appearance could have helped fantasy owners assess Weaver's status heading into next season, but he'll instead enter the offseason as something of a mystery. His 2.94 ERA, 26.5 percent strikeout rate and 5.4 percent walk rate all represent significant steps forward from last season, but that came over a small, 12-start sample.

Weaver retired all six batters faced and struck out one over two innings as the opener in Saturday's 4-2 win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver made a successful nut brief return from an elbow injury that sidelined him since late May. The right-hander needed just 19 pitches (13 strikes) to dispatch the Padres' top six hitters and averaged 95 mph on his fastball. "He can check the box that he got back on the mound and was healthy for the last month of the season," Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said. "I think it'll get him ready for a healthy 2020." Lovullo said the club has not yet determined if Weaver will pitch again in the final week of the season.

Weaver (elbow) has been reinstated from the 60-day injured list ahead of his start Saturday against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver is set to return to a big-league mound for the first time since late May after taking a conservative approach to his treatment and rehab. He recently threw two innings and 28 pitches in a California League playoff game and manager Torey Lovullo said Weaver's innings/pitch count are likely to be about the same in his return to the majors, per Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic. Weaver was in the midst of a bounce-back campaign before going down, posting a 3.03 ERA and 1.11 WHIP in his first 11 starts.

Weaver (elbow) will start Saturday's game against the Padres, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver has been shut down with an elbow strain since the end of May, but after making his final rehab start a week ago, he'll take the mound for the big-league club Saturday. He owns a 3.03 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with a 68:14 K:BB over 62.1 innings this season in the big leagues.

Weaver (elbow) threw a bullpen session Tuesday and could return from the 60-day injured list within the next few days, Zach Buchanan of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver looked sharp in his last rehab start Friday for High-A Visalia, and following a successful bullpen Tuesday, Arizona believes he's ready for major-league action. The Diamondbacks could reinstate the right-hander from the IL later this week.

Weaver (elbow) allowed one hit and struck out one over two scoreless innings for High-A Visalia on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver threw 28 pitches (19 strikes) for the Rawhide, who took a 2-1 lead in the best-of-five series against Lake Elsinore. For Weaver, this is the last chance to pitch in a competitive game environment before rejoining the Diamondbacks roster.

Weaver (elbow) will throw a bullpen session Tuesday and there is a "strong chance" he is able to return before the end of the season, according to general manager Torey Lovullo, Bill Ladson of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Depending how he feels after Tuesday's session, the next step could be a simulated game or an appearance for a minor-league affiliate in a postseason game. Lovullo prefaced his comments by saying he is going to remain as optimistic as possible, but he noted that the ball has been coming out of Weaver's hand very well.

Weaver (elbow) threw his second simulated game of the week Friday, Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver threw 30 pitches over two innings and will make at least one more appearance -- either in simulation or the minors -- before coming off the injured list. Weaver has been on the shelf since late May, but with Arizona hunting for the playoffs, all hands (and arms) are being prepared. "If it were a September where we're out of it, maybe we see what it looks like here," manager Torey Lovullo said. "Everything that we're doing right now matters."

Weaver (elbow) completed a simulated game without issues Monday, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver is working his way back from an elbow strain which has kept him out of action since late May. It's not clear exactly when he's expected to return, but he appears to be trending in the right direction and has a good chance to be back before the end of the season.
