Weaver (1-9) allowed five runs (four earned) over five innings and took the loss against Colorado on Saturday. He gave up seven runs and struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver picked up an MLB-high ninth loss in a forgettable season for the right-hander. There were some good starts among Weaver's 12 outings, and he didn't miss a start after the arm troubles that dogged him in 2019. However, there was a lot of "frustration," he told Nick Piecoro of the Arizona Republic. The two pitches that made Weaver so effective before his season was shut down last season -- the cutter and the curveball -- were nearly absent Saturday, as they were most of the season. "Bluntly, those pitches have to be thrown," Weaver said. "It's an advantage to me, just like any other pitcher who can land three to four pitches through the course of a game." That will be a focus for the 27-year-old during the offseason.

Weaver (1-8) allowed three earned runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five across 5.1 innings to take the loss Saturday against the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver pitched well through five innings, allowing only one run on one hit and a walk. However, he was battered around when he took the mound in the sixth inning, allowing hits to four of the five batters he faced. Weaver now owns a 6.51 ERA and 49:18 K:BB across 47 frames this season. He's in line to take his final turn through the rotation next Saturday against Colorado.

Weaver (1-7) took the loss Sunday against the Mariners, allowing two runs on four hits and three walks across five innings. He struck out three.
EDGE Analysis
After allowing single runs in the first and second, Weaver settled in to finish his outing with three scoreless frames. Unfortunately for the right-hander, the Arizona offense struggled to give him much run support as he took his seventh loss. Weaver has dropped each of his last four decisions and now has a 6.70 ERA on the season. He will look to pick up his first win since Aug. 18 when he takes the hill Friday in Houston.

Weaver allowed two runs on five hits and four walks over four-plus innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver couldn't consistently locate, which led to traffic on the bases and 86 pitches to get 12 outs. Despite the activity, he limited the Dodgers to one run over the first four innings before leaving in the fifth after the first batter he faced singled. The outing lowered Weaver's ERA to 7.12 as he prepares for a start next Tuesday on the road against the Angels.

Weaver (1-6) was charged with the loss at Dodger Stadium on Thursday, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out five across 5.1 innings.
EDGE Analysis
The volatile Dodgers lineup got to Weaver early, jumping out to a 2-0 first-inning lead thanks to a trio of singles. Those would be the last runs of the night charged to Weaver, though unfortunately, he was strapped with his sixth loss of the season after Arizona failed to provide enough run support. The 27-year-old now holds a disappointing 7.44 ERA and 1.59 WHIP on the season and is slated for a Tuesday rematch against the Dodgers in Arizona.

Weaver (1-5) allowed four runs on eight hits and a walk while striking out six over three innings in a loss to the Giants on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Four of the eight hits Weaver allowed were doubles, allowing the Giants to slug their way around his pitching. The 27-year-old now has an unsightly 8.23 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 34 strikeouts in 27.1 innings across seven starts this season. Weaver will try to get back on track next Saturday in his third straight game versus the Giants.

Weaver (1-4) allowed two runs on a walk and five hits over 5.2 innings Sunday, striking out five and taking the loss against San Francisco.
EDGE Analysis
For most of the afternoon, Weaver was on his game. He kept the Giants scoreless through four innings before an RBI double to Evan Longoria in the fifth and a solo shot to Mike Yastrzemski in the sixth. The right-hander lowered his season ERA to 7.77 alongside a 28:9 K:BB. Weaver will face the Giants again, this time at home, Friday.

Weaver (1-3) allowed one earned run on three hits and one walk while striking out six across five innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
After four consecutive poor outings to begin the season, Weaver came through to deliver a strong performance. He allowed only one extra-base hit and did not surrender a home run for the first time in a start this season. Underlying numbers didn't necessarily support the turnaround -- he had only nine swinging strikes on 87 total pitches and began 9 of the 19 batters he faced with a strike -- but it was nevertheless a positive development. He now has a 9.16 ERA across 18.2 innings, though he has a 23:8 K:BB. Weaver will look to stay on track in his next outing, currently projected to come Sunday at San Francisco.

Weaver allowed four runs on six hits and one walk over 3.1 innings during Wednesday's win over the Rockies. He had three strikeouts and didn't factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old gave up only one run through the first three frames, but his afternoon ended during the fourth inning as he was pegged for three more runs. Weaver has an 11.85 ERA and 2.12 WHIP through 13.2 innings (four starts), and he lines up to pitch against the A's early next week, assuming he retains his spot in the rotation.

The decision to pull Weaver after three innings and 43 pitches in Friday's game against the Padres was planned, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Seeing the results of Weaver's first two starts provides a reason why manager Torey Lovullo planned to limit the right-hander. In each of the first two outings, Weaver had significant issues in the fourth inning when he faced orders a second time through. The Diamondbacks are looking to turn around a 5-9 start, and in a 60-game season, every game takes on greater import. "This is a game of performance," Lovullo said. "We're evaluating everybody, and we're probably a little bit more aggressive making decisions. This is where it took us today. We weren't winning baseball games, and we were trying to give ourselves the best chance to maneuver, flip a lineup and win a baseball game." Lovullo added that there are no plans to convert Weaver into an opener.
