Severino allowed one run on seven hits, walking three and striking out five over 6.1 innings of a 5-2 victory over Tampa Bay on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
It was another solid outing for Severino (3-2, 2.04 ERA) and it marked the first time he has been allowed to pitch into the seventh inning. He left after retiring just one hitter in the seventh as the Yankees continue to hold him to about 90 pitches. He has demonstrated the ability to pitch effectively, but will need to be efficient with the pitch cap in order to maximize his fantasy value.

Severino pitched six shutout innings with five strikeouts and just four hits allowed, as he improved to 2-2 in Saturday's win over the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Severino has yet to work into the seventh yet in his brief big league career, though he probably could've gone deeper in Saturday's contest, as he had thrown just 88 pitches before being lifted for a pinch-hitter. The 21-year-old has looked poised through five starts, sporting a 2.17 ERA, and will look to keep it going Friday against the Rays.

New York Yankees pitching prospect Luis Severino was officially called up from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to start Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox, according to the team's official website. Severino, who is considered the best Yankees pitching prospect in some time, posted a 1.91 ERA and a 0.93 WHIP in 61.1 minor league innings this season. “He’s not a Matt Harvey-type,” Yankees general manager Brian Cashman said. "[But] we are really, really excited for him. It shouldn’t be miscast, either. We’ll let him get his feet wet and see what he can do. He is a really exciting cat. I think he could have a very good career, but he is still young and he is still developing. All those guys you sign down there, you just plug them in the system and then you kind of forget about them until they start pushing their way into the Florida State League.” Severino's fate for the rest of the season has not been determined just yet, but the team could elect to give him an extended look if he proves up to the task of pitching in the major leagues.

Severino, 21, has a 1.99 ERA and 32:14 K:BB ratio in 45.1 innings since being promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
While Severino's strikeouts are down at this level, he has remained dominant overall. Opposing batters are hitting a putrid .196 against him. With the struggles of CC Sabathia and Nathan Eovaldi, Severino could make his MLB debut before 2015 is finished.

Severino was promoted to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday, Baseball America's Josh Norris reports.
He tossed five no-hit innings in his last start at Double-A on Thursday, and will now be one step closer to getting called up to The Show. There are some who think Severino profiles as a reliever long-term, based on his unorthodox delivery and questions about his ability to hold up over a full season, but the Yankees will certainly continue to develop him as a starter until Severino's results dictate a change. The 21-year-old righty has shot through the Yankees' system over the past year, and has notched close to a 5:1 K:BB ratio at every stop along the way. He is likely already owned in all dynasty leagues, but now is the time for those in single season leagues to start to pay attention.

Severino (finger) tossed five no-hit innings Thursday in his return from a brief stint on the Disabled List at Double-A Trenton.
The blister issue obviously was minor, as Severino breezed through his first start in 11 days. Currently, the 21-year-old has a 3.27 ERA and 39:8 K:BB ratio through 33 innings.

Severino (finger) was activated off the DL and will start Thursday, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports.
Severino landed on the 7-day DL last week with a blister on his right middle finger, but it appears to have been just a minor issue. The highly touted prospect sports a 3.86 ERA with 34 strikeouts in 28 innings at Double-A Trenton this season.

Severino was placed on the 7-day DL Tuesday with a blister on his right middle finger, MLB.com's Matt Kardos reports.
He was forced to exit his last start Sunday after just two innings due to the blister. Severino is the Yankees' top pitching prospect, and a top-50 overall prospect in dynasty leagues. Fortunately the injury sounds minor and he should be back on the mound in the relatively near future.
