Severino will not start Sunday's season finale against the Red Sox but may be available out of the bullpen, Joel Sherman of The New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Aaron Boone said the Wild Card game starter for Wednesday's contest against the Athletics has yet to be decided, so this decision makes it a possibility that Severino could wind up being the starter. On the other hand, this will potentially provide the right-hander with a little experience out of the bullpen, where he could be made available during Wednesday's game with all hands on deck. Boone added that there should be an answer prior to Sunday's game. At the moment the Yankees have yet to name a starter in Severino's place for the season finale.

Severino will take the hill against the Red Sox on Sunday, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
This decision takes Severino out of the running for the Yankees' Wild-Card game versus Oakland next Wednesday but certainly benefits fantasy owners as the right-hander will make one last start in the regular season. Over his past three starts, Severino has logged a 2.04 ERA and 1.02 WHIP with 18 strikeouts in 17.2 innings.

Severino will start Tuesday's game against the Rays.
EDGE Analysis
A leading American League Cy Young candidate through the first half of the season, Severino opened the second half with a 6.95 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over his first nine starts to effectively eliminate himself from hardware contention. Fortunately for the Yankees, Severino has come on strong over his last two outings, yielding two runs and posting an 11:1 K:BB across 12.2 innings. He'll look to keep the momentum going against a surging Rays team and could line up for a second start this week in the regular-season finale Sunday against the Red Sox, assuming home-field advantage for the Yankees' wild-card game is still at stake.

Severino (17-8) took the loss Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits while striking out five without a walk over 5.2 innings against the Twins.
EDGE Analysis
Severino put together a solid outing, but he was outdueled on the other side by Minnesota starter Jake Odorizzi, who took a no hitter into the eighth inning. The 24-year-old exited after 83 pitches (52 strikes) with a pair of runners on in the sixth inning and has now failed to complete six frames five times in his last six starts. While he's had a rocky second half to the season and hasn't been able to work deep into ball games lately, Severino may be starting to right the ship somewhat, as he's allowed three or fewer runs in four of his last five. He'll take a 3.46 ERA into Wednesday's start against the Red Sox.

Severino (17-7) got the loss Wednesday, allowing six runs (five earned) on six hits and a walk while striking out three over 2.2 innings against the Athletics.
EDGE Analysis
It was a disastrous outing for the 24-year-old, and he wasn't helped by some miscommunications that led to two wild pitches and two passed balls in the first inning. It's a continuation of a troubling trend, as Severino is now sporting an unsightly 6.83 ERA over 55.1 innings in his last 11 starts. He still sports a 3.52 ERA and 202:42 K:BB in 173.2 thanks to a terrific first half, but he's now fallen short of a quality start in nine of 11 starts. He'll look to get back on track Tuesday in Minnesota.

Severino improved to 16-6 on the season after allowing two runs in five innings against the Blue Jays on Saturday. He walked two and gave up six hits while striking out eight.
EDGE Analysis
It was an encouraging performance for Severino, who hadn't given up fewer than three runs since July 1. Over his last seven starts prior to Saturday, he'd struggled to a 7.50 ERA and a low (by his lofty standards) 8.8 K/9. It will take more than one start to be sure that the 24-year-old is firmly back on track, but he no longer appears to be broken. He'll get the chance to build on his performance Friday or Saturday in Baltimore.

Severino (15-6) allowed four runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out six across four innings as he was saddled with the loss Monday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Severino gave up two runs in the first inning, and a two-run homer in the fourth prior to being lifted with 98 pitches (64 strikes). Despite picking up the victory his last turn through the rotation, Severino has surrendered three or more runs in his previous seven outings, going 2-4 over that stretch. He'll look to return to form in his next performance, which is slated for Saturday against Toronto.

Severino (15-5) got the win Wednesday, allowing three runs on seven hits while striking out eight over seven innings against the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Severino's night got off to a rocky start with two runs allowed on three hits in the first inning, but he settled down from that point on to turn in his first quality start in his last six outings. The 24-year-old has seen his ERA balloon over a full run in that span, but on the year he still has a solid 3.11 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 10.0 K/9 and an AL-leading 15 wins. He'll look to build on this start Monday against the Mets.

Severino (14-5) took the loss Friday as the Yankees fell 4-1 to the Red Sox, giving up four runs on seven hits and three walks over 5.2 innings while striking out two.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander's July swoon has now extended into August. Over his last five outings, Severino has a brutal 8.28 ERA, 1.88 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB in 25 innings, failing to complete six frames in any of those starts. He'll get an opportunity to turn things around in his next start Wednesday on the road against the White Sox.

Severino (14-4) gave up six runs on eight hits and one walk while fanning five across 4.1 innings as he was tagged with the loss in Game 1 of Saturday's twin bill.
EDGE Analysis
Severino failed to work past the fifth inning, as he left the ballgame after 95 pitches with a six-run deficit. Following Monday's outing, he's allowed 16 runs over his previous 14.1 innings pitched, and his last victory dates back to July 7. Severino entered July with a sparkling 2.10 ERA, but he now sports a 2.94 ERA over 137.2 innings.
