Making his first start of the season, Lucas Duda went 0-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout Thursday against the Nationals. Ideally the Mets would have settled on a first baseman by the end of spring training, but Duda and Ike Davis were both injured for most of the Grapefruit League schedule. So now the competition will extend into the regular season. With Josh Satin still expected to get at-bats against left-handers, it could be tough for Duda or Davis to really get into a groove offensively. It's not an ideal situation for the Mets or fantasy owners.

Lucas Duda is starting at first base for the Mets in Thursday's series-finale against the Nationals. Ike Davis started at first base in the Mets' opener on Monday and Josh Satin played there in the Mets' second game of the season on Wednesday. It looks like the rotation will continue for at least another couple weeks, making it a position to avoid for fantasy purposes.

Lucas Duda went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts Saturday in the loss to the Blue Jays. It's sub-optimal, but the Mets will carry both Duda and Ike Davis on their roster, with Davis presumably starting at first base both of the time. It's hard to see how they'll have enough at-bats available for both. Duda, who missed time earlier this month with a hamstring injury, ends the spring at .184 with two homers in 27 at-bats. Davis hit .241 with two homers in 29 at-bats.

Lucas Duda (hamstring) will play first base on Friday. Duda has been sidelined since March 3 due to tightness in his left hamstring, but he's finally ready to return to Grapefruit League action. Ike Davis, who returned from his calf injury on Thursday, is slated to DH on Friday. There's not much time left to decide the starting first base job.

Lucas Duda (hamstring) is scheduled to return to Grapefruit League action on Friday. Duda will first play in a minor league game on Thursday. He's been slowed by tightness in his left hamstring but should have enough time to get himself prepared for Opening Day. Duda is still battling Ike Davis for starting first base duties, but word is that Davis is being shopped by the Mets' front office.

Lucas Duda (hamstring) will play in a live game Thursday. It will either be a Grapefruit League game or a minor league game. Duda has been battling tightness in his left hamstring but should have ample time to get properly tuned up for the start of the 2014 regular season. The Mets are shopping Ike Davis again, so Duda projects to serve as the club's regular first baseman.

Lucas Duda (hamstring) is tentatively expected to return to action this weekend. Duda has been sidelined over the past week due to left hamstring tightness, but he has shown some improvement and is scheduled to hit in the cage Monday. With Ike Davis sidelined due to a calf injury, he has a real chance to take the first base job.

Lucas Duda was held out of action on Thursday due to lingering tightness in his left hamstring. "It's just tight at the bottom of the hamstring," Duda told ESPN New York on Thursday afternoon. "It's feeling much better daily." He hasn't appeared in a Grapefruit League game since Monday and there's no set date for his return. The 28-year-old Duda is competing with Ike Davis, who has also been sidelined, for the Mets' starting first base gig.

Lucas Duda is out of the Mets' Grapefruit League lineup on Tuesday due to a tight left hamstring. The hamstring discomfort drove him to an early exit from Monday's game, but it's not a major concern yet for the Mets' medical staff. Duda is competing with Ike Davis this spring for the starting job at first base.

Lucas Duda left Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Braves due to leg stiffness. Consider him day-to-day. Duda is competing with Ike Davis for the first base job this spring, but they both have minor ailments at the moment.
