Hendricks took a no decision despite throwing six shutout innings Monday against Kansas City. He gave up just two hits and two walks and struck out nine.
EDGE Analysis
This was one of Hendricks's best starts of the season, and his best Game Score (75) since his only shutout of the season May 21 against San Diego. It had been a rough go in the second half for Hendricks to this point, as he now has quality starts in consecutive outings for the first time since July 5 and July 10. His ERA is down to 4.09.

Hendricks (7-7) struck out eight, but gave up three runs on four hits over six innings in a loss to the Brewers on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
This was a tough one for Hendricks, who pitched very well and very efficiently -- he threw just 78 pitches while going into the seventh inning -- but was sunk by bad luck and bad bullpen work. It's been an up-and-down season, but Hendricks has shown much-improved bat-missing abilities while retaining his strong control, offering plenty of promise for the long term. In the nearer future, he'll face the Royals on Monday.

Hendricks took a no-decision on Thursday, going only three inning and surrendering six hits and four earned runs. He struck out five and also hit a batter.
EDGE Analysis
After a three-start stretch in which he'd managed to avoid giving up the long ball, Hendricks promptly surrendered three round-trippers over the second and third inning. The only saving grace was that two were of the solo variety, but the homers and a hit batsman all contributed to him getting pulled after only 63 pitches. The pitch count was the second-lowest total of the season for Hendricks in a start, and his exit after three frames was the quickest he'd been pulled from a game all season. One somewhat surprising positive for Hendricks coming out of this abbreviated appearance was the absence of free passes, the first time since a July 10 start against the White Sox that he managed to not give up at least one walk.

Hendricks (7-6) pitched well on Friday, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks across 6.2 innings in a win over the Phillies. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Hendricks seems to never pitch gems, but he never gets blown up either. In all 28 of his starts, Hendricks has allowed between zero and five runs, except for once. The strikeouts have been consistent as well, as he has struck out between three and seven batters in 14 of his last 15 starts. It may sound harsh, but Hendricks is a boring player with a low ceiling and high floor who is usually good for a quality start with decent peripherals.

Hendricks took a no decision Monday against the Reds as he allowed three runs on five hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Hendricks's typically excellent control deserted him a bit Monday, as it took him 92 pitches to get through just five innings and he walked three batters for just the fifth time in 26 starts. He has now gone five starts without a quality start, tying his longest such streak of the season. His ERA is up to 4.15.

Hendricks continued his scoreless streak by shutting out the White Sox over seven innings Friday. He has not given up a run in any of his last three starts.
Hendricks did not earn a decision however, as the Cubs couldn't score either in an eventual 1-0 loss. In his last three starts, covering 20.1 innings, Hendricks has struck out 16 and given up just 13 hits and two walks. He wasn't pitching particularly well before the streak began, but he's pitching like an ace right now. For the season he has a 3.55 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 79:17 K:BB in 99 innings.

Hendricks was excellent Sunday against the Marlins, striking out six and walking just one over 7.1 shutout innings to earn his fourth win of the season.
The 25-year-old shut down a Marlins offense that is looking increasingly feeble without Giancarlo Stanton and lowered his season ERA to 3.82. Hendricks is also in the midst of a 15.1 inning shutout streak and will next face the White Sox at home Friday.

Hendricks stymied the anemic Mets offense on Tuesday, shutting them out for six innings to earn the win.
Hendricks allowed just three hits and struck out six in the outing. It had been tough sledding for the second-year hurler before Tuesday's outing, allowing 10 earned runs in his last two starts. The win Monday was his only quality start of June. He'll take the mound against the Marlins next weekend.

Hendricks (2-4) lasted only five innings, giving up four runs on four hits and a walk while striking out three in Wednesday's loss to the Dodgers.
With Wednesday's five-inning stint, Hendricks hasn't recorded an out in the sixth in any of his last four starts. The 25-year-old is getting by this season with a 4.46 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP, and he'll look to bounce back in his next scheduled start Tuesday at the Mets.

Hendricks (2-3) struggled Friday, allowing seven runs (six earned) on 11 hits over five innings in a 7-2 loss to the Twins.
This was easily Hendricks' worst start of the season, as he struggled to miss bats even more than usual, striking out just one. Hendricks is also having trouble going deep into games, as this marks his third consecutive five-inning outing. The Twins didn't hit any homers off Hendricks, but made tons of contact and slapped the ball around the field, totaling six singles and five doubles. If he doesn't do a better job of mixing his pitches and changing velocity, Hendricks could be in for further struggles. He'll look to rebound Wednesday against the Dodgers.
