Pillar's offensive struggles continued over the weekend, going just 1-for-12 in the series versus the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Following Sunday's game, the center fielder's batting average dropped to .237, the lowest it has been since April 17. Pillar's fantasy value plummeted when he lost his grip on the leadoff spot weeks ago, and his lack of production of late has made him practically useless in many formats. However, he'll continue to play due to his outstanding defensive prowess, and simply being in the Blue Jays vaunted lineup is worth something.

Pillar is out of the lineup Friday against the Twins, Sportsnet's Barry Davis reports.
EDGE Analysis
He is hitless in his last 17 at-bats, and is failing to match his 2015 production through six-plus weeks. Ezequiel Carrera will start in center field and hit eighth Friday.

Returning from a day off (chest soreness), Pillar went 2-for-4 with a double, two RBI and a run in Sunday's "brawlgame" against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Pillar had slowed of late, hitting just .100 in his previous 20 at-bats entering Sunday. More noticeable that his performance at the plate was his performance in the ring. When a benches-clearing brawl broke out, the 27-year-old flew out of the Jays' dugout, wildly charging into the melee. Pillar is certainly a candidate to receive a minimal suspension for his actions in Sunday's circus in Arlington.

Pillar (chest) is back in the lineup in center field and will bat leadoff Sunday against the Rangers, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Blue Jays scratched Pillar from Saturday's lineup after he complained of chest soreness a couple hours before the contest, but he still manged to enter the game in the late innings as a defensive replacement. It appears his absence was only precautionary, so look for Pillar to be in line for a full slate of starts during the upcoming week.

Pillar (chest) has been scratched from Saturday's lineup, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pillar was a late scratch Saturday, being removed from the lineup card less than two hours from first pitch due to chest soreness. Ezequiel Carrera will take Pillar's spot in center field Saturday and he'll bat at the top of the order as well. Further information on the severity of Pillar's injury figures to be made available following Saturday's contest.

Manager John Gibbons said he's going to try a platoon system at leadoff. Pillar will hit first against lefties while Saunders, a left-handed hitter, will take the role against right-handers, the Toronto Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pillar hit leadoff to open the season, but after a terrible start, Gibbons moved him down to the bottom-half of the order in favor of Saunders. However, since Pillar's bat started to heat up, Gibbons had him batting leadoff again on Saturday with Saunders, who has also hit well batting leadoff, hitting in the No.7 spot. Pillar has hit .373 since April 17 with a .408 on-base percentage and .567 slugging percentage.

Pillar was 1-for-4 with a three-run home run as Toronto scored a 5-2 win over the Dodgers on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
After a game in the lead-off spot Thursday, Pillar was back in the six hole for this one. He's a gold glove calibre centerfielder, but he chipped in with a tie-breaking three-run homer in this one as he took JoeBlanton deep in the bottom of the eighth that provided the margin of victory. The defense is a huge asset to the Toronto pitching staff, but with a .296 average and two long ones to go with 12 RBI he has become a competent fourth outfielder for fantasy teams.

Back in the leadoff spot for the first time since mid-April, Pillar went 3-for-5 with two doubles, two RBI and a run in Thursday's 12-2 win against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
With Michael Saunders (eight strikeouts in his last three games) getting a day off, Pillar was inserted back to where he began the season, atop the powerful Jays lineup. The center fielder continued his hot hitting in what wound up being the Jays best offensive showing of the season. Although there has been no indication that the move is permanent, Pillar's value would increase dramatically if he were to regain the leadoff spot.

Pillar is leading off Thursday against the Rangers, Mark Zwolinski of the Toronto Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
Michael Saunders is out of Thursday's lineup, allowing Pillar to jump from the seven hole to the leadoff spot. Pillar has been heating up at the plate, with seven hits -- four for extra bases -- over his last five games. If Saunders were to slip a little offensively, Pillar would be the obvious choice to lead off on a regular basis.

Pillar went 3-for-4 with a double while scoring the team's only run in Monday's loss to the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Pillar's three-hit effort raised his average to .290, the highest it's been since Opening Day. In 48 at-bats as the leadoff hitter, the outfielder amassed just nine hits. Since moving out of the top spot, Pillar has accumulated 20 hits in 52 at-bats. With Michael Saunders excelling as the new leadoff man, and Pillar doing well elsewhere, it is unlikely he will regain the top spot in the foreseeable future.
