The outfielder made a sensational catch to rob Manny Machado of a home run Monday, but he paid a price, suffering a mild ankle sprain on the landing. Kiermaier is out Tuesday as a result of the injury, replaced in center by Brandon Guyer, but the Rays are listing Kiermaier as day-to-day ahead of Wednesday's series finale in Baltimore.

Kiermaier went 0-for-1 with a strikeout before departing, with Daniel Nava replacing him in the lineup and playing right field while Brandon Guyer shifted to center. The 25-year-old has been hot lately, though, having homered in consecutive games entering Monday's action, and it sounds like he won't miss very much time with this ailment.

Kiermaier went 2-for-4 Saturday with his sixth home run and 16th stolen base of the season.

EDGE Analysis

After stealing just five bases in nine attempts as a rookie, Kiermaier's improved success rate (16 for 19) this season is more in line with his minor league performances on the base paths. Still just 25 years old, he could yet improve on his .262/.304/.430 career slash line down the road, but his speed should give him a decent fantasy baseline.

Kiermaier went 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored in a 5-3 loss to the Twins on Wednesday.

EDGE Analysis

Kiermaier is now hitting .321 in August, continuing his curious trend of excelling at the plate on alternating months throughout 2015. The second-year outfielder showcased his speed with a fifth-inning triple and eventually scored on a Grady Sizemore single to break a 1-1 tie. Kiermaier has shown improvement in strikeout rate and stolen bases this season while experiencing regression in homers and RBI, an inconsistency common in players of his experience level.

Kiermaier is out of the lineup Saturday against the Astros, the Tampa Tribune's Roger Mooney reports. With lefty Dallas Keuchel on the mound for Houston, the Rays will give Kiermaier the day off. His offensive numbers don't really stand out, but his defense is excellent in center field, and he has already been worth three wins this year according to Fangraphs, so he should continue to serve as the Rays' primary center fielder.

Kiermaier will start and bat leadoff Monday against the Indians, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. After sitting for the past two games to give Brandon Guyer and Grady Sizemore some at-bats, Kiermaier returns to the starting lineup against the right-handed Cody Anderson. He's hitting .265 on the season with 25 of his 63 hits going for extra-bases including six triples. He's also stolen eight bases in nine tries this season.

Kiermaier is out of the lineup Sunday against the Red Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Kiermaier usually finds himself at the top of the order against right-handed pitchers such as Boston's Justin Masterson, but with manager Kevin Cash wanting to get a glimpse at the newly added Grady Sizemore, there's not enough space in the lineup. Considering that Sizemore struggled mightily with the Phillies earlier this season and looks to be nearing the end of his career, it doesn't appear that Kiermaier's hold on the large end of the center-field platoon is threatened.

Kiermaier is out of the lineup Saturday against Boston. Kiermaier will get the day off Saturday with lefty Wade Miley on the mound for the Red Sox. He has actually hit southpaw starters well this season with a .350 batting average over 40 at-bats, but the Rays will use righty Brandon Guyer in center for Saturday's contest.

Kiermaier is out of the lineup Sunday against the White Sox, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports. Manager Kevin Cash will continue with his platoon arrangement in center field, as Kiemaier hits the bench while Brandon Guyer draws the start against the left-handed Chris Sale.

Kiermaier went 2-for-3 with a triple and two runs scored Saturday against the White Sox. The Indiana native has apparently enjoyed his time against the ChiSox, as he's posted consecutive two-hit games now. He's got just enough pop and speed to be useful in AL-only leagues and very deep mixers, but not much of anywhere else.
