Gausman passed concussion tests after being removed from Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers following a collision, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman collided with Jeimer Candelario, the on-deck hitter, while backing up home plate. He was cut and bruised near his left eye and suffered a sore back but avoided more serious injury. He doesn't expect to be significantly delayed in his preseason preparations, so consider him good to go for the regular season barring unforeseen complications.

Gausman was removed from Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Tigers after colliding with a player behind home plate, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Specifics regarding the injury remain unclear, but Gausman apparently hurt himself after colliding with Jeimer Candelario, who was on-deck. It looked like he was being checked for a concussion before exiting the field with trainers. More should be known about his status once the team is able to further evaluate him.

Gausman will try out a new sinker grip Monday against the Tigers, Eduardo A. Encina of The Baltimore Sun reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman used a sinker occasionally in the first four years of his career, but didn't throw the pitch at all in 2017. He learned a different grip from new teammate Andrew Cashner this spring and will test it out in the Grapefruit League. Gausman has given up 57 home runs over the past two seasons, tied for 11th-most in the league, so a new sinker could be a valuable weapon. It's unknown yet whether the pitch will be effective for him, but new pitches can often help pitchers reach a new level, so if early reports are positive, consider increasing Gausman's price by at least a little bit.

Gausman and the Orioles have agreed to a one-year deal Tuesday, avoiding arbitration.
EDGE Analysis
The dollar value of the deal has yet to be announced, but the two sides had filed for $5.3 million and $6.225 million, so it's presumably somewhere between those two figures. Gausman struggled to a 4.68 ERA and 4.48 FIP last season, though his 3.41 ERA in the second half suggests that he may improve in 2018. He will be a key member of a weak Orioles rotation this season.

Gausman (11-12) took the tough-luck loss Sunday in Tampa Bay despite allowing only one run on six hits while striking out one without a walk over seven innings.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman was dominant in this one, with the only damage against him coming on a solo homer off the bat of Curt Casali. Unfortunately for Gausman, Baltimore's offense missed the memo that the offseason doesn't start until Monday and managed just three hits without a run to stick him with a second consecutive loss. The 26-year-old righty struggled with consistency en route to a 4.68 ERA in 34 starts, but showed flashes of brilliance with seven starts of at least seven innings and one or fewer runs allowed in his last 17 appearances.

Gausman is expected to start Sunday against the Rays, Roch Kubatko of MASN Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman wasn't expected to start again this season, but with Jeremy Hellickson unavailable due to a back issue, the Orioles will likely hand the ball to Gausman for one final outing. He's coming off a loss to the Pirates in which he allowed six runs in just four innings of work, but prior to that he compiled a 2.25 ERA in four September starts. The 26-year-old, who owns a 4.81 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in 179.2 innings this season, will get one more opportunity to end his season on a positive note.

Gausman (11-11) allowed six runs on five hits and two walks across four innings to earn the loss Tuesday against the Pirates. He struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman allowed two runs on three hits in the first inning, but the big hit came in the form of a grand slam by Andrew McCutchen in the fourth. He worked up to 83 pitches as he finished the inning but wasn't brought back out for the fourth. Gausman delivered perhaps his best start of the year last time out, but this collapse is somewhat representative of his season, for which his ERA sits at a disappointing 4.81. He isn't scheduled to start again at the moment and will look to get back to the drawing board ahead of the 2018 campaign.

Gausman tossed eight scoreless innings in a no-decision against the Red Sox on Tuesday, allowing three hits with two walks and seven strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman was superb in this one, receiving 24 called strikes as he kept the Boston lineup off balance. He induced 10 groundball outs while reaching seven strikeouts for just the second time in the last eight starts. Unfortunately, Drew Pomeranz and the Red Sox bullpen kept pace with Gausman, who wasn't in line to earn a win despite his terrific performance. He has been terrific in four of his last five starts and will look to continue his recent success Sunday against the Rays.

Gausman (11-10) pitched seven quality innings, allowing one earned run on six hits and one walk while striking out six Blue Jays en route to Wednesday's win.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander rebounded nicely from his last outing, a disaster against the Yankees in which he lasted just three innings. Gausman continues to offer a roller coaster of results, but he's now managed three quality starts in his last four games. He'll take a 4.83 ERA and 1.56 WHIP into his next start Monday against a dangerous Red Sox lineup.

Gausman (10-10) allowed five runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four batters through just three innings during Thursday's loss to the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Gausman's game-to-game inconsistency has been maddening, and the 26-year-old righty is now up to a 4.99 ERA and 1.59 WHIP for the campaign. His 8.5 K/9 is an admirable mark, and Gausman had pitched 13.2 scoreless innings over his previous two outings, so the upside is there. Still, it's probably best to just accept him as a high-risk, high-reward start moving forward. Gausman projects to make his next start against Toronto at the Rogers Centre.
