Gausman left the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Rays with a right ankle contusion, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.

X-rays were negative, so Blue Jays fans and fantasy managers can breathe a sigh of relief. Gausman went down and stayed down for several minutes after taking a comebacker off his ankle in the second inning of Saturday's matinee. It's still possible he could miss a start or end up on the injured list, but it does not sound like Gausman is in line for an extended absence.

Gausman allowed four hits and a walk while striking out three in two scoreless innings to begin Saturday's matinee, but he was hit by a comebacker in the top of the second inning. He remained down for several minutes but was ultimately able to walk off the field under his own power. The right-hander will presumably undergo further testing before the Blue Jays determine whether he'll need to miss additional time.

Gausman (6-6) yielded four hits and two walks over seven shutout innings Monday, striking out 10 and earning a win over Boston.

EDGE Analysis

Gausman allowed just one extra-base hit -- a double by Rafael Devers that took an odd hop off second base -- and rarely faced much trouble in Monday's dominant performance. It was his first scoreless outing since May 24 and his second of the year with double-digit punchouts. In three starts against the Red Sox this season, Gausman is 2-0 with a terrific 27:2 K:BB while giving up just one run over 21 innings. The 31-year-old will carry a 2.93 ERA into his projected home matchup with the Rays this weekend.

Gausman struck out seven in six innings while allowing two runs on seven hits and two walks. He did not factor into the decision in a 7-6 loss Tuesday against the White Sox.

After retiring the side in order in the first, Gausman gave up back-to-back doubles in the second to allow a run. In the fifth, he gave up another run-scoring double and he left the game in a position to take the loss. The 31-year-old has struggled to keep opponents off base recently, allowing 43 baserunners in his last 23 innings. His next start will likely be early next week against Boston.

Gausman (5-6) allowed seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out three across 2.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Orioles.

EDGE Analysis

Gausman kept the ball in the yard but allowed five of the first six batters he faced in the third inning to reach base, derailing his appearance. It was the second time in three starts that he's failed to work at least four innings, and he's surrendered nine earned runs across 12 frames in that span. Despite that recent stretch, Gausman still owns a 3.21 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across 13 starts this season.

Gausman (5-5) took the loss against the Tigers on Saturday, allowing two runs (one earned) on six hits while striking out four and walking three over six innings.

EDGE Analysis

Gausman pitched well enough to earn the win Saturday, picking up a quality start, but did not get enough run support from his offense and ended up with the loss. The righty allowed more than one walk in a game for just the second time this season. Gausman allowed just one earned run in the game and lowered his ERA to 2.67. The veteran has been dominant for the Jays this season despite recording as many wins as losses.

Gausman (5-4) yielded five runs (three earned) on nine hits and a walk over 3.2 innings, striking out three and taking a loss against the Twins.

EDGE Analysis

All five runs allowed by Gausman came during the first two innings, including three in the first. He's now given up three earned runs in each of his last two starts, raising his season ERA to 2.84 with an impressive 73:7 K:BB through 11 starts. The 31-year-old is 2-3 with a 3.71 ERA over his last five outings. Gausman is expected to start in Detroit next week.

Gausman (5-3) picked up the win Tuesday, giving up three runs on six hits and a walk over five innings in a 6-5 victory over the White Sox. He struck out five.

EDGE Analysis

The right-hander left the game after 98 pitches (67 strikes with the Blue Jays down 3-2, but a four-run rally in the bottom of the fifth put Gausman back in the win column. He's proving his 2021 breakout with San Francisco was no fluke, posting a 2.51 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 70:6 K:BB through 61 innings this season.

Gausman (4-3) picked up the win in Tuesday's 8-1 victory over the Cardinals, scattering four hits and two walks over six scoreless innings. He struck out eight.

EDGE Analysis

After uncharacteristically issuing two free passes in the first inning, Gausman knuckled down and pounded the zone, firing 74 of 105 pitches for strikes before exiting, and St. Louis never got a runner past second base. The right-hander has been worth every penny for the Blue Jays so far after signing a $110 million deal in the offseason, providing six quality starts in nine trips to the mound with a 2.25 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 65:5 K:BB through his first 56 innings with Toronto.

Gausman (3-3) took the loss against Seattle on Wednesday, pitching five innings and allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three batters.

EDGE Analysis

Gausman didn't have his usual swing-and-miss stuff against the Mariners in the outing, as he notched a season-low three strikeouts and registered only seven swinging strikes. However, he limited Seattle to two runs and allowed just one extra-base hit -- a fifth-inning homer by Cal Raleigh that was the deciding factor in tagging Gausman with the loss. The right-hander will carry a 2.52 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 57:3 K:BB into his next start, which is slated to come in St. Louis next week.
