Wilson was traded to the Yankees on Wednesday in exchange for catcher Francisco Cervelli, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. Wilson tossed 60 innings for the Pirates in 2014, but more than doubled his ERA from 2013, as he saw it rise to 4.20. His strikeout rate improved a bit, but the left-hander had a high walk rate (4.50), and allowed more HR/9 (.60) than he has in any of his MLB season. He'll serve as depth in the Yankee bullpen, and likely won't pitch in high leverage situations out of the gates.

According to FOX Sports' Jon Morosi, the Pirates are willing to listen to offers for Justin Wilson. The Bucs like Wilson -- a dominant hard-throwing left-handed reliever -- but the trade interest in him this winter has been "overwhelming" according to Morosi and if the price is right Pittsburgh might sell. Wilson, 26, owns a 2.07 ERA in 78 1/3 major league innings. The Pirates would likely want MLB-ready talent in return.

Justin Wilson struck out one in a perfect inning of relief Saturday against the Dodgers. It was a much-needed easy outing for Wilson, who had allowed five runs over his last two relief appearances. The rookie left-hander is 5-1 with a 2.35 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 36/14 K/BB rate over 38 1/3 innings.

Justin Wilson pitched three scoreless innings and struck out five Saturday in relief against the Twins. The Pirates expressed their intention to use Wilson as a starter this spring back in December, only to retreat from the statement later. Maybe they're thinking about it again now after having him throw three innings today; he had thrown a total of seven innings in his previous five appearances this spring. Still, the smart money says that he'll be in the pen.

The Pirates will use Justin Wilson as a starter in spring training. Wilson made eight appearances as a reliever with the Pirates this past season, but he's mostly been a starter in the minors, posting a 3.83 ERA with 460 strikeouts over 518 2/3 innings. As it stands right now, the Pirates have two openings in their rotation. Jeff Locke and Kyle McPherson are the likely favorites to fill those spots, but they'll compete with Wilson, Zach Stewart, Vin Mazzaro and Andrew Oliver.

Pirates recalled LHP Justin Wilson from Triple-A Indianapolis. Wilson earns his first call-up to the big leagues after posting a 3.84 ERA and 130 strikeouts over 131 1/3 innings this season at the Triple-A level. The 25-year-old southpaw has trouble throwing strikes at times (4.5 BB/9 over four minor league seasons), so there's some question about his future role. He'll pitch in the bullpen for now, though.

Pirates purchased the contract of LHP Justin Wilson from Triple-A Indianapolis. Wilson, 24, posted a 4.13 ERA and 94/67 K/BB ratio over 124 1/3 innings this season with Triple-A Indianapolis. The southpaw was moved to the bullpen toward the end of the year, which could help him get to the big leagues faster.
