Wilson (hamstring) threw off the mound without reported issues Friday, Anthony Fenech of the Detroit Free Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson should keep plugging away at rehab and seems on track to be ready for Opening Day, when he'd occupy a middle relief role with the occasional late-game setup opportunity.

Wilson (hamstring) won't throw for the next few days, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Tigers were hopeful that Wilson would be able to pitch in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals, but he ended up being scratched from the outing after incurring some hamstring tightness. While there doesn't seem to be any concern that Wilson is at risk of missing the start of the season, he'll be temporarily shut down with the hope that it resolves the issue. Wilson is on track to serve as one of the top setup men to closer Francisco Rodriguez after striking out 65 batters in 58.2 innings last season.

Wilson has been scratched from a scheduled appearance Wednesday due to mild hamstring soreness, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The injury does not sound serious, and Wilson will likely be back on the mound soon, though his status is worth monitoring. Wilson picked up 25 holds last season and he should continue to serve as a bridge to closer Francisco Rodriguez in 2017.

Wilson is looking to mix in more pitches and vary his speeds more in spring training, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Last season, Wilson threw a fastball or cutter about 78 percent of the time, and those pitches sat around 95 mph and 91 mph, respectively. Wilson said his goal in spring training is to vary his speeds a bit more by mixing in a slider and a changeup more often. "I'm going in there, and my whole goal is to be a junk pitcher to really get confident in [those offspeed pitches] and use them," he said.

Wilson agreed to a one-year, $2.7 million deal with the Tigers on Friday, avoiding arbitration, FanRag Sports' Jon Heyman reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old lefty posted a 4.14 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and 65:17 K:BB in 58.2 innings out of the Tigers' bullpen last season. Those ratios aren't very useful, but his strikeout rate suggests he could be better in 2017 if he has better luck on balls in play (.340 BABIP last season).

Wilson's fastball velocity has dropped since earlier this season and he seems to be struggling with location, reports the Detroit Free Press.
EDGE Analysis
He has a 4.24 ERA and 1.29 WHIP in 57 relief appearances, but he lasted just nine pitches Friday night, allowing three straight singles. Wilson's velocity is down about two m.p.h. since early in the season. He received a cortisone shot in early August because of elbow soreness, but manager Brad Ausmus was quick to refute suggestions he's injured. The Tigers will watch Wilson's workload in the immediate future to try to get him back to the top of his game as the team's top left-handed reliever.

Wilson received a cortisone injection in his elbow before Monday's game, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Brad Ausmus confirmed that the injection was in response to a nerve issue and that Wilson would still be available if needed. The left-hander leads the Detroit bullpen with 48 appearances this season, but has allowed six earned runs over his last 2.1 innings pitched.

Wilson earned the first save of his career, retiring the Red Sox in order during a 4-3 victory Wednesday afternoon.
EDGE Analysis
Detroit's regular closer Francisco Rodriguez was unavailable because he was home tending to a personal matter, so that left the ninth inning to Wilson. He did just fine, not allowing a base runner, recording 13 strikes on 19 pitches and one strikeout. In addition to one save, he is 2-3 with 20 holds, a 3.46 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 47 strikeouts in 39.0 innings.

Wilson picked up his second straight hold in Saturday's 3-2 win over the Rays. He allowed one hit and struck out one in 1.0 innings of work.
EDGE Analysis
Wilson had six holds in the Tigers' first seven games, but he'd been stuck at 12 holds since June 4. Now, he has 14. Still, Wilson's 39:5 K:BB ratio is outstanding -- it's better than the 29:10 of Tigers' closer (Francisco Rodriguez). He's next in line for saves should KRod ever falter.

Wilson is suffering from a sore elbow after pitching one inning of relief against the Yankees, reports MLive.com. He gave up a run on two hits in that outing.
EDGE Analysis
He doesn't think it's of any concern -- team trainers have worked to loosen it up and Wilson is convinced the bit of rest has been good for it. Manager Brad Ausmus also isn't concerned and acknowledged that he was prepared to use Wilson as a closer Wednesday over Francisco Rodriguez. Ausmus didn't need to pull that trigger with his team down heading into the later innings. Still, Wilson could see late-inning work soon enough and that could be good enough for a speculative waiver bid this week.
