Juan Nicasio pitched six scoreless innings and struck out nine in a defeat of the Giants on Monday. Nicasio isn't working deep into games at all, but he's lowered his ERA from 5.04 to 4.58 over his last three starts. The nine strikeouts tied his season high. Next up for Nicasio is a home start against the Reds on Sunday.

Juan Nicasio allowed two runs -- one earned -- in 5 2/3 innings of a no-decision against the Phillies on Wednesday. It wasn't always pretty, but Nicasio was effective on Wednesday, scattering seven hits and a walk. He wasn't in line for the win, so Rafael Betancourt's blown save didn't deny him his eighth win. He'll carry a 7-6 record and 4.79 ERA into his start Monday against the Giants.

Juan Nicasio notched his seventh win of the season Friday by holding the Orioles to two runs over six innings. Nicasio gave up four hits and four walks while striking out just two batters, so it wasn't the most efficient outing, but he managed to hold a tough Baltimore lineup in check. Not bad for someone who entered Friday's outing with a 9.63 ERA over his last three starts. Still, he can go on being ignored in most fantasy leagues.

Juan Nicasio allowed four runs on six hits over 4 1/3 innings in a loss to the Pirates on Sunday. He struck out four and walked three. Nicasio posted a spectacular 0.47 ERA in his first three starts after being recalled from Triple-A on July 12, but he has come back to earth by surrendering 12 runs over 8 1/3 frames in two starts since. Nicasio matched up against the Dodgers, Cubs and Marlins in those first three starts, while he's faced much stiffer competition -- on the road against Atlanta and Pittsburgh -- during his struggles. The right-hander falls to 6-6 with a 5.05 ERA. Nicasio is not to be trusted in fantasy.

Juan Nicasio allowed eight runs on 10 hits in four innings in a loss to the Braves on Tuesday. Nicasio had been fantastic his last three times out, giving up just one run over 19 innings. But Tuesday he gave up 10 hits, including two home runs, while also walking three. The loss dropped him to 6-5 and raised his ERA to 4.92. He'll have another tough test Sunday when he takes on the Pirates at PNC Park.

Juan Nicasio struck out nine while over seven scoreless innings but took a no-decision in Thursday's loss to the Marlins. Nicasio allowed just two hits and a walk and would have gone farther in the game if not for a rain delay. As it is, he watched the Rockies' bullpen give up five runs over the final two innings. Nicasio has given up just one run in three starts since returning from Triple-A. He'll try to keep it going next week in Atlanta.

Juan Nicasio pitched five innings of one-run ball in a victory over the Cubs on Saturday. Nicasio has allowed just one run over 12 innings since being recalled last week. He gets the Marlins next time out, so he's definitely worth using in NL-only leagues next week.

Juan Nicasio shut out the Dodgers for seven innings to win Friday in his return to Colorado's rotation. Nicasio allowed just three hits, walked one and struck out three. The performance should help him stick in the rotation after the All-Star break, though the Rockies will be looking outside of the organization for rotation help. Nicasio was 4-4 with a 5.31 ERA in 16 starts before being demoted at the end of last month.

Rockies recalled RHP Juan Nicasio from Triple-A Colorado Springs. Nicasio will return to the Rockies' rotation on Friday night against the Dodgers, taking the place of the injured Roy Oswalt. In 16 starts with the Rockies this season, Nicasio has posted an underwhelming 5.31 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 56/30 K/BB ratio in 81 1/3 innings. He should be avoided for fantasy purposes.

Juan Nicasio has been scratched from his start Wednesday with Triple-A Colorado Springs. This means he'll likely be called up to start in Roy Oswalt's place Friday against the Dodgers. Nicasio has a 5.31 ERA in 16 starts with the Rockies this season and can be avoided in most fantasy leagues.
