Lagares went 0-for-3 in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Getting the start in center field and batting second, the veteran outfielder saw his spring slash line droop to .182/.200/.227 through 14 games. He's been outhit in camp by both Keon Broxton (.259/.429/.296) and non-roster invitee Rajai Davis (.310/.353/.552), and while Lagares does have history with the Mets, that might not be enough to win him a spot on the 25-man roster.

Lagares went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a stolen base in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Hitting leadoff and playing center field, Lagares swiped his first bag of the spring. He's only 4-for-19 at the plate through six games, but if he can string together a few more strong performances he could get a leg up on Keon Broxton, Rajai Davis and the other glove-first outfield options competing for jobs in camp with the Mets.

Lagares (toe) is included on the Aguilas Cibaeanas roster for the Dominican Winter League.
EDGE Analysis
Lagares started in center field for the club Tuesday and went 1-for-2 with a double in what amounted to his first competitive action since May. After a lengthy recovery from surgery to address the left toe injury, Lagares will look to get back into a rhythm in winter ball before likely preparing for a reserve outfield role with the Mets this spring.

Lagares (toe) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
This is simply procedural, as Lagares is expected to miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his left big toe. The move opens up a spot on the Mets' 40-man roster, which was used to purchase the contract of Tim Peterson.

Lagares will likely miss the remainder of the season after undergoing surgery on his left big toe.
EDGE Analysis
Lagares suffered the injury after running into the outfield wall Wednesday against the Nationals. An X-ray revealed no fracture, but an MRI did not turn up good news. He suffered a complete tear of his big toe plantar plate and will undergo surgery next week. He was placed on the 10-day disabled list and not completely ruled out for the season, but it appears unlikely that he'll be able to return. Brandon Nimmo is in line for an expanded role while he remains out.

Lagares sprained his right big toe after banging into the outfield wall during the ninth inning of Wednesday's game, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lagares remained in the game and underwent an X-ray following the conclusion of Wednesday's contest. The results of that test came back negative, so he should be considered day-to-day ahead of Friday's series opener against Arizona.

Lagares went 2-for-3 with a walk in Tuesday's loss to the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
He was also caught stealing, but otherwise it was another strong performance for the 29-year-old. Lagares is best known for his stellar defense in center field, but his .385/.433/.385 slash line to begin the season gives Mets manager Mickey Callaway yet another viable option in his outfield, at least until he cools down.

Lagares is out of the lineup Thursday against the Nationals and is likely to see a reduction in starts following Michael Conforto's (shoulder) activation from the disabled list, Tim Britton of The Athletic New York reports.
EDGE Analysis
Lagares had started two of the Mets' first five games as part of a timeshare in center field with Brandon Nimmo, but both players are now set to see their roles decline with Conforto seemingly ready to handle an everyday role. Though his starting opportunities should dwindle, Lagares seemingly has a more visible path than Nimmo to regular usage off the bench thanks to his unmatched outfield defense, a skill that's valued in the late innings.

Lagares went 3-for-4 in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets' outfield picture continues to get more crowded. Michael Conforto (shoulder) could be back in action as soon as Thursday, but Lagares' 5-for-9 start to the season indicates he doesn't intend to step aside quietly, and Brandon Nimmo (illness) looked good in his one start as well. Conforto will take over as the starting center fielder when he's ready to come off the disabled list, but with Nimmo and Lagares both proving to be capable options, manager Mickey Callaway could use them to give Yoenis Cespedes and Jay Bruce more rest.

Lagares is expected to open the season in a timeshare in center field with Brandon Nimmo, likely occupying the short side of a platoon, Matt Ehalt of The Bergen Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
Nimmo's strong spring at the plate and the Mets' glaring need for a leadoff hitter over the first month of the season while Michael Conforto (shoulder) is sidelined likely means that Nimmo will see the bulk of the starts in center field early on, but Lagares won't collect dust on the bench. In addition to starting against southpaws over the lefty-hitting Nimmo, Lagares should frequently enter games as a late-inning substitute thanks to his defensive wizardry. Lagares' quality defense doesn't mean much from a fantasy perspective, however, so don't count on him to offer much utility even in NL-only formats in light of his .257/.297/.366 career line and low expected placement in the batting order when he starts.
