Josh Reddick (wrist) has been taking some dry swings but is not ready to take batting practice yet. Reddick is eligible to return from the disabled list on Wednesday, but that's not going to happen. It's possible the outfielder might eventually require surgery, but that point hasn't been reached yet. A timetable for his return remains up in the air.

Josh Reddick admitted Monday that it's possible he'll need surgery on his ailing right wrist. The good news is that Reddick has no structural damage, and he's already feeling better since being shut down over the last week. However, he'll wait another week before trying to swing a bat, and if he's not able to at that time, surgery might be required. Reddick had an operation on his left wrist after the 2011 season and need two months of recovery time, so if he does get cut open he's likely to be out past the All-Star break.

Athletics placed OF Josh Reddick on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 7, with right wrist inflammation. An MRI on Tuesday showed only inflammation in the wrist, but the A's decided to make a roster move after Reddick still felt some discomfort. The hope is that the combination of a cortisone shot and extended rest will get him back on track. Daric Barton will take his place on the roster while Brandon Moss is expected to see increased playing time in the outfield.

Josh Reddick (wrist) is expected to be placed on the disabled list prior to Wednesday's game. Reddick originally hurt the wrist when he crashed into a wall in foul territory on April 7, but discomfort has lingered over the past month. An MRI on Tuesday revealed only inflammation, but he was given a cortisone injection in hopes that it will get him over the hump. The A's plan to call up Daric Barton, which paves the way for Brandon Moss to move out to the outfield.

An MRI on Josh Reddick's right wrist showed only inflammation. Reddick originally hurt the wrist a month ago, and he's been unable to totally shake off the soreness. The outfielder had a tendon issue previously in his other wrist that required surgery, but he's hoping that won't be necessary this time. Reddick tried swinging a bat prior to Tuesday's game, though, and it didn't go well. He is hitting only .152/.266/.250 this season.

Josh Reddick is out of the A's starting lineup on Tuesday against the Indians because of a wrist injury. Reddick suffered a sprained wrist in early April and is apparently still feeling some lingering discomfort. He will get a cortisone shot and miss the next few days. The 26-year-old outfielder has hit just .152/.266/.250 with one home run in 29 games played this season.

Inserted back into the third spot in the lineup, Josh Reddick went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts on Friday. A's manager Bob Melvin apparently tried Reddick as a No. 3 hitter based on him going 6-for-15 with five RBI in his previous three starts. However, after the 0-for tonight, he's back down to .159 for the season. Either the sprained wrist or the beard is sapping his power.

Josh Reddick is not in Wednesday's lineup against the Red Sox. He's just getting the day off. Chris Young will make the start in right field while Nate Freiman serves as the DH.

Josh Reddick had a two-run double and a walk Wednesday versus the Astros. The double off Bud Norris was just his second hit in five games since he returned from a wrist injury. He's 5-for-42 overall this season, but at least he's helped his fantasy owners by stealing four bases.

Reddick hasn't played since sprained his right wrist Sunday he crashed into a wall in foul territory, but he was able to take batting practice Thursday without any issues. The hot-hitting Seth Smith will serve as the DH on Friday while Chris Young takes a seat.
