Moscot (intercostal) will be activated from the DL and start Sunday's game against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Moscot will be running up against a red-hot Cardinals offense. He would have made the original starting rotation but for the injury. There's a reasonably high chance he won't end the year in the rotation.

Moscot went 5.2 innings Tuesday for Triple-A Louisville in a rehab start, allowing five runs on six hits, including a homer.
EDGE Analysis
Besides being able to pitch into the sixth inning, the other bright spot for Moscot was that he struck out six without walking a batter.

Moscot is a good bet to start Sunday against the Cardinals, assuming his second rehab start Tuesday goes well.
EDGE Analysis
Officially Sunday's start remains listed as "TBD," but Moscot is the best bet to fill the vacancy. He was able to go 3.2 innings in his first rehab start.

Moscot (strained intercostal) will pitch for High-A Daytona on Thursday, the Cincinnati Enquirer's C. Trent Rosecrans reports.
EDGE Analysis
He is eligible to come off the DL for the Reds next week if they think he's ready, but it is unclear how many pitches he will be able to throw Thursday. The Reds' rotation is in desperate need of reinforcements, and Moscot, along with Homer Bailey and John Lamb, is close to being ready to help out at the big league level.

Moscot (strained intercostal) was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move, which is retroactive to March 25, confirms what the Reds said earlier in the week, when they said that he would not be ready for the start of the season. Fortunately the Reds won't need a fifth starter until April 17 due to a series of off-days. Unfortunately, they haven't identified a fourth starter yet. Moscot will likely get a handful of starts before the trio of Homer Bailey, John Lamb and Michael Lorenzen return.

Moscot (strained intercostal) won't be ready for the start of the season, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moscot threw 33 pitches Monday in a minor league game, saying afterward that he feels much better. He still figures to miss the first turn or two through the rotation, and the Reds won't need a fifth starter until April 17.

Moscot (strained intercostal) threw a 33-pitch, two-inning minor league spring training outing Monday without any aggravation of his injury, though his return date remains in doubt. "My side felt great, I'm not really feeling it anymore," Moscot said. "I wanted to get back to throwing all four pitches and throwing strikes, and I was able to do that. Obviously I was throwing against low-A guys, but it's nice to get in there against hitters and get a game feel."
EDGE Analysis
Moscot was tentatively slated to fill the Reds' third start before the injury, but that spot hasn't been filled yet. If Moscot is considered the fifth starter, the next time they would then need him would be on April 17.

Manager Bryan Price said Friday that he does not anticipate Moscot (chest) being ready to start the season in the rotation, Zach Buchanan of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Reds seem to be running out of starting pitching options to round out their rotation to start the season with Friday's announcement that Moscot is unlikely to be ready for that role. Fellow starter Homer Bailey will be out until mid-May while John Lamb may miss the first month as well. Moscot is dealing with a strained intercostal muscle and won't be stretched out enough to begin the year in the rotation either. Tim Melville looks to be the favorite to fill in as the Reds' fifth starter early on this season.

Moscot (intercostal muscle) threw a long toss session from 120 feet Monday, and is slated for a bullpen session later in the week.
EDGE Analysis
Moscot still has a few steps before he's ready for the beginning of the season. If he's not ready, the Reds will probably turn to Tim Melville as the fifth starter now that they've sent Cody Reed down.

Moscot (strained intercostal muscle) is improving and believes he'll miss just one start, though he hasn't been able to swing yet.
EDGE Analysis
Moscot is the leading candidate to win the fifth starter's job for the Reds, as they would prefer to have Cody Reed begin the year in the minors.
