Gray (1-0) allowed three runs on five hits and no walks while striking out six over five innings as he earned the win in Friday's spring game against Cleveland.
EDGE Analysis
Gray encountered some trouble during the third and fourth innings Friday, but he was still relatively sharp and earned the win during the Cactus League start. The right-hander's fastball hit 96 mph during the outing, and he didn't feel tired after throwing 71 pitches in his longest outing of the spring, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Gray missed the final month of the 2020 season due to a shoulder issue but appears to be fully healthy ahead of Opening Day in 2021.

Gray allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out three over 2.2 innings in Sunday's spring loss to the Rangers. He didn't factor into the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Gray was scheduled to pitch four innings Sunday, but an abundance of foul balls by Texas resulted in the right-hander reaching his pitch limit with two outs in the third inning. He got into some trouble in the second inning but only allowed one run via a sacrifice fly, and he recorded strikeouts in every inning. Gray had a career-low 94 mph average fastball velocity in 2020 before he was shut down due to right shoulder inflammation, but he consistently reached 96 and 97 mph during his outing Sunday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. Assuming he remains healthy this spring, Gray should begin the regular season as a back-end starter for Colorado.

Rockies bullpen coach Darryl Scott said that Gray (shoulder) has been a full go at spring training, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gray was shutdown in September last season with a shoulder issue and spent the offseason in a maintenance program for the injury. Scott noted that Gray's shoulder "feels great" and that he is throwing all of his pitches. After posting a 6.69 ERA and 1.44 WHIP across 39 innings in 2020, Gray will look to bounce back with full health once again.

Gray (shoulder) and the Rockies avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $6 million contract Friday, Robert Murray of FanSided.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gray won't be getting much of a raise compared to the $5.6 million he made last season, but that appears to be deserved based on his 2020 performance. In eight starts, he struggled to a 6.69 ERA, striking out just 12.6 percent of opposing batters. The Rockies will be looking for him to return to his 2019 form going forward, as he posted a 3.84 ERA while striking out a respectable 23.5 percent of opposing batters that season.

Gray (shoulder) was shut down for the year by the Rockies on Wednesday, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gray hit the injured list in early September with right shoulder inflammation. There hasn't been any indication that the diagnosis is worse than initial reports suggested, but he simply doesn't have time to build back up before the end of the year. He'll finish the campaign with a very poor 6.69 ERA and a strikeout rate that collapsed to 12.6 percent, barely more than half of his 23.5 percent mark from 2019.

Gray was placed on the 10-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation, retroactive to Sept. 2.
EDGE Analysis
Gray was shelled by the Giants on Tuesday as he allowed seven runs on nine hits over 2.2 innings, and his injury could have contributed to his struggles. It's unclear how much time he's expected to miss as a result of his shoulder issue. Right-hander Jose Mujica was recalled from alternate camp and could take Gray's place in the starting rotation while he's sidelined.

Gray (2-4) took the loss against the Giants on Tuesday, pitching 2.2 innings and allowing seven runs on nine hits while striking out one.
EDGE Analysis
It was an ugly day overall for Colorado's pitching staff, which yielded 23 total runs and saw its most effective effort come from a catcher (Drew Butera, who allowed one run in 1.2 innings). Gray took much of the damage, surrendering three runs in the first frame, two more in the second and another pair in the third before his outing mercifully ended. Four of the nine hits Gray gave up went for extra bases, including a pair of home runs off the bat of Alex Dickerson. Gray was coming off a strong start in his previous outing, but he has struggled overall in 2020, posting a 6.69 ERA and 1.44 WHIP over 39 innings. Once a reliable source of punchouts -- he averaged at least one whiff per inning in each of the past four seasons -- the right-hander has seen his strikeout rate topple to a career-low 13.4 percent this season due, in part, to losing a couple ticks off his fastball and slider. Gray will try to get back on the right track when he faces the Padres in San Diego on Monday.

Gray (2-3) earned the win Wednesday against the Diamondbacks. He allowed one run on three hits and three walks while fanning five across six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Gray was coming off four straight outings allowing three or more earned runs, so this clearly was a bounce-back performance for the hard-throwing right-hander. Gray relied more on his slider (30 pitches) than his fastball (28) in this game and the plan seems to have worked, though now he needs to show more consistency to leave his early season struggles behind. Gray has a 6.58 ERA and a 1.38 WHIP in five starts this month.

Gray (1-3) was tagged with the loss Friday against the Dodgers after allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks across 3.2 innings. He didn't strike out anyone.
EDGE Analysis
Gray didn't record a single strikeout for the first time since 2015 -- excluding relief appearances -- and he had all sorts of problems against one of the top lineups in the National League. He's now allowed three or more runs in four straight starts and will try to bounce back in his next start, scheduled for Wednesday on the road against the Diamondbacks.

Gray (1-2) allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out seven across seven innings to earn the win Sunday against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Gray looked like he was in for a tough outing as he surrendered two home runs and three earned runs through four innings. However, he retired nine of the last 10 batters he faced to salvage a strong outing, particularly given that it was at Coors Field. It was a bounceback effort for Gray, as he was hit around for eight earned runs in his previous outing. He'll look to turn in another strong effort in his next start, currently projected to come Friday at the Dodgers.
