Murphy is hitting .351/.422/.568 with a home run in 12 games in June for Triple-A Rochester. He's hitting .225/.303/314 overall at Triple-A.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy began his season in the majors in a terrible slump as he was just 3-for-40 before being demoted. He equally struggled by hitting just .154 at Triple-A in May. However, he's shown life at the plate lately and he could be back in the majors as Minnesota's backup catcher before too long.

Murphy went 0-for-4 against Durham on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy is just 8-for-45 during his time with Triple-A Rochester this season, but those numbers are still an improvement over his 3-for-40 mark with the Twins to start the season. After being sent down on May 6, Murphy has collected seven RBI with Rochester and holds a .450 OPS throughout the 13 games he has played. The 25-year-old will probably rejoin the big league club at some point this season, but beginning to hit the ball will expedite that process.

The Twins optioned Murphy to Triple-A Rochester on Friday, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy was a dreadful 3-for-40 (.075) in 11 games with the big club this season, so the Twins decided to send him down to give him an opportunity to make some adjustments. Murphy will rejoin the Twins at some point later this season, but for now Juan Centeno will serve as the team's backup behind regular starter Kurt Suzuki.

Murphy is expected to be demoted Friday, Mike Berardino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
A .277/.327/.406 hitter at the major league level last year, he has looked lost in the early going this season, going 3-for-40 with one extra-base hit. It sounds like the Twins will hit the reset button with Murphy and bring Juan Centeno up to serve as the backup to starter Kurt Suzuki. Murphy is still just 24 (he turns 25 next week), so not all hope is lost for the future by any means.

Murphy was ejected from Monday's game against Houston after arguing with the umpire while catching.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy was 0-for-1 with a walk in the game before getting into a heated argument with Jerry Layne while catching in the fifth. He was replaced by Kurt Suzuki, the regular starter behind the plate.

Murphy is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Brewers, Mike Beradino of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's just a routine day off for Murphy, who's started three of the last four games for the Twins. Kurt Suzuki will get the start behind the dish in place of the 24-year-old.

Murphy will assume the starting catcher duties Sunday against the Angels and bat ninth in the order, MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's Murphy's third start in four games, as manager Paul Molitor seems open to giving the 24-year-old a chance at an extended starting role with the Twins off to a miserable start to the season. Murphy only has one hit in 15 at-bats to date, but he fared well in part-time duty with the Yankees a season ago and appears to possess more upside at this stage in his career than veteran Kurt Suzuki, the Twins' Opening Day starter behind the plate.

Murphy will make his first start of the season Thursday and is batting eighth in the order against the Orioles.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy will replace Kurt Suzuki behind the plate Thursday to make his 2016 debut. He'll catch for another former Yankee, Phil Hughes, and he will be facing Baltimore right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez. Murphy has collected a base hit in both of his career plate appearances against Jimenez.

Murphy went 0-for-3 in Thursday's spring training win over Miami. He's hitting just .080 (2-for-25) this spring.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy entered spring training with a chance to win the starting catcher job, but Paul Molitor said early in camp that Kurt Suzuki was considered the starter and Murphy hasn't done anything at the plate to change that outlook. However, Murphy may play more than a typical backup catcher and it's possible he could take over the bulk of playing time later in the season given how Suzuki struggled last season (.610 OPS).

Murphy is considered the backup at catcher heading into camp by manager Paul Molitor, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy was considered the favorite to take the starting spot when the Twins traded for him in November, but it appears experience has Suzuki positioned for the top spot at least for now. Murphy's .277/.327/.406 batting line in 2015 is far superior to Suzuki's sub-.300 OBP performance, so we could have a legitimate spring training battle here so long as Murphy hits like he has in the past.
