Murphy went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in Friday's win over the Marlins.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy clubbed his eighth homer of the year off reliever Jarlin Garcia in the fifth inning, and has now recorded a hit in five consecutive games. Murphy has excellent numbers against lefties to the tune of a .361 average with five homers and 11 RBI in 36 at-bats, but against righties he's hitting only .209 with three homers and six RBI in 43 at-bats. Even with the unfavorable splits, the backstop's .950 OPS is good for second among MLB catchers.

Murphy went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and a double in Wednesday's loss to the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy has gotten the starting nod in four of the last seven games, and he's gone deep in three of those. The 27-year-old has a .260 average to go along with seven home runs and 15 RBI in just 73 at-bats and has established himself as the top option behind the plate in Arizona over Alex Avila and Jeff Mathis.

Murphy went 1-for-5 with a solo home run Monday in the Diamondbacks' 12-5 win over the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Murphy went down swinging twice on the day and now sports a 31.1 percent strikeout rate for the season, but the Diamondbacks can live with the catcher's poor contact skills while he's continuing to supply ample power. He's now up to six home runs in just 74 plate appearances this season, with the long-ball total placing him in a tie for eighth place in the majors among backstops. Manager Torey Lovullo has already stated that Murphy has earned himself more playing time due to his early season performance, so the 27-year-old could be worth a look for fantasy players struggling to generate production from the catcher spot.

Murphy went 1-for-4 with a double, walk and two RBI in the Diamondbacks' 7-1 win over the Athletics on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
With the game held in Oakland, the Diamondbacks tabbed Murphy as their designated hitter, with the 27-year-old surprisingly slotting in third in the batting order, his highest lineup placement of the season. Murphy proved worthy of the assignment, with his two-run double in the third inning helping to spark an Arizona rally. Manager Torey Lovullo recently suggested that Murphy would likely be in store for more action behind the plate with Alex Avila stuck in a season-long swoon, so it may be worthwhile for fantasy squads in two-catcher formats to give Murphy a spin if their second option isn't cutting it.

Murphy went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 9-2 loss to the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
A pair of solo blasts by Murphy and Paul Goldschmidt comprised just about all of the offense on the afternoon for the struggling Diamondbacks, losers of seven straight and 13 of their last 14. The Diamondbacks have only scored 26 runs over the 14-game stretch, which may prompt manager Torey Lovullo to phase the struggling Alex Avila (.128/.253/.205 line across 91 plate appearances this season) out of the lineup in favor of Murphy and his comparatively hotter bat. While Murphy's .270 on-base percentage isn't much better than Avila's, the 27-year-old backstop has at least been a plus-power source for Arizona. Murphy's .541 slugging percentage and .295 ISO trail only the injured A.J. Pollock (thumb) for tops on the team this season.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo acknowledged Sunday that Murphy could earn more starts at catcher in the near future, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports. "Yes, I'm taking notice of what [Murphy] doing," Lovullo said. "Is there going to be a change [behind the plate?] Possibly. But I need to sit guys down and have conversations with them before any type of movement is made in that area. It's just a thought I'm having right now."
EDGE Analysis
With 10 starts this season, Murphy has entered the lineup on fewer occasions than Alex Avila (20) and Jeff Mathis (16), but the 27-year-old has been the clear top performer from a fantasy standpoint. Murphy has already smacked four home runs and seven extra-base hits in his 59 plate appearances, lifting his OPS to a career-high .794. His productivity is more noteworthy in light of the season-long struggles of Avila, who is slashing a putrid .132/.258/.211 while striking out in 47.2 percent of his plate appearances. Avila seems more likely than Mathis, a defensive standout who typically plays once or twice a week, to cede playing time if Lovullo elects to make room for Murphy in the starting nine more frequently.

Murphy went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run Tuesday in the Diamondbacks' 8-5 win over the Dodgers in 12 innings.
EDGE Analysis
With three home runs and six extra-base knocks in 44 plate appearances, Murphy has been a surprise power source in a small sample of work. Though Murphy has seen less action to date than No. 1 backstop Alex Avila, he could ascend to the top of the depth chart if Avila fails to demonstrate much offensive progress in his subsequent starts. The 31-year-old Avila is slashing just .184/.286/.306 (62 wRC+) against right-handed pitching this season, a far cry from his .249/.361/.424 career line in those matchups.

Murphy went 1-for-2 and scored the game-winning run in the Diamondbacks' 4-3 triumph over the Dodgers on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Alex Avila started the game behind the plate for the Diamondbacks, but received the early hook from manager Torey Lovullo after striking out in all three of his at-bats. That paved the way for Murphy to serve as the catcher for the final three innings, with the backstop coming through with a clutch base hit in the bottom of the seventh. It's clear the Diamondbacks prioritize defense above all else from their catchers, but with Avila batting .163 and striking out in 44.8 percent of his plate appearances, Lovullo may be warming up to the idea of giving Murphy some more work. Jeff Mathis also remains on the roster and should continue to earn a start or two per week, so Murphy probably wouldn't be in store for a major boost in opportunities even if Avila's role declines a bit.

Murphy homered, scored twice and knocked in two runs in a 2-for-3 game Wednesday against the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
In Murphy's three starts behind the plate, he is now 4-for-11 with two home runs, four runs scored and four RBI. Murphy has flashed an intriguingly solid bat at times, most notably when he hit .277/.327/.406 in 67 games for the Yankees in 2015. If he gets extended at-bats in a hitters park as nice as Arizona, he'll be worth a fantasy look.

Murphy went 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs and a strikeout in Tuesday's 6-1 win against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
These were his first two hits of the season in his second start of the campaign. His home run came in the eighth inning off righty Zach Neal. Through five games, it appears clear that while the Diamondbacks are carrying three catchers, Murphy is the clear No. 2 option behind Alex Avila (11 at-bats) and ahead of Jeff Mathis (two at-bats).
