The veteran first baseman has clearly been a bright spot during a dismal Reds season, and his .385 average (50-for-130) after the All-Star break is one of the best marks in the majors during that span.

Votto was slated to miss Friday's game, but that was rained out, so he'll miss the first game of Saturday's doubleheader instead. Kristopher Negron will get the start instead, batting ninth.

Votto will serve a one-game suspension Friday against the White Sox, MLB.com's Jamie Ramsey reports. Rather than appealing the suspension, Votto will just get it over with. He made contact with umpire Chris Conroy while arguing a call during Wednesday's game in Pittsburgh.
