Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski said earlier this week that Joel Hanrahan (elbow) has "made progress, but I can't also say that he's close."
Hanrahan is throwing bullpen sessions, but Dombromski said there's no timetable for when the reliever will face hitters and eventually go out on a rehabilitation assignment. "I really don't know what's going to happen with his situation," Dombrowski said. "He's throwing. He'll throw bullpens again this week, but I don't know if he's going to take off from here or I don't know if he'll stagnate from here. I don't really know."

Joel Hanrahan (elbow) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session on Saturday in Lakeland, Florida.
Hanrahan has been trying to build arm strength at the Tigers' spring training complex in Lakeland since agreeing to a one-year contract with the club in early May. The 32-year-old right-hander could become an option for Detroit's bullpen near the end of July.

Joel Hanrahan (elbow) will face hitters in extended spring training this week.
Hanrahan was shut down for a bit last month in order to build up some arm strength, but he's now ready to take the next step. He should join the Tigers' bullpen sometime next month.

Joel Hanrahan (elbow) is close to facing hitters.
Hanrahan was shut down for a bit last month in order to build up some arm strength, but he resumed throwing off a mound a couple weeks ago and doing much better. He could be added to the Tigers' bullpen around the beginning of July.

Joel Hanrahan (elbow) resumed throwing from a mound Tuesday.
The Tigers had shut Hanrahan down from mound work for a few days, as they wanted him to build up some more arm strength. There's no set timetable for the reliever being added to the big league bullpen, but it should come sometime next month.

Joel Hanrahan (elbow) was shut down from a recent bullpen session, as the Tigers decided he needs to build up his arm strength through long toss first before moving to mound work.
Hanrahan will long toss for the next week or so before being re-evaluated. If all goes well, he could resume throwing bullpen sessions next week. There is still no clear time-table for his return, but his agent suggested that it could come in mid-June.

Tigers signed RHP Joel Hanrahan to a one-year contract; placed him on the 15-day disabled list with a right elbow injury.
The financials of the contract are not yet known, though general manager Dave Dombrowski not surprisingly announced that the deal includes incentives. Working his way back from Tommy John surgery, Hanrahan was clocked as high as 93 mph during an audition for teams last month. The Tigers aren't setting a timetable for his return, but the general feeling is that they're hoping to have him by early June. Hanrahan could eventually work his way into being Joe Nathan's primary setup man.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Tigers will sign Joel Hanrahan (elbow).
There's no word on the particulars, but the club has a press conference scheduled for Friday afternoon. Hanrahan impressed during a throwing session for roughly 20 teams a couple weeks ago, hitting as high as 93 mph on the radar gun. It will likely take him a while to become ready for game action, but he'll offer the Tigers some setup help ahead of Joe Nathan once ready.

CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that the Tigers, Yankees, Rangers, Red Sox and Rockies are believed to be among the teams showing "strong" interest in Joel Hanrahan (elbow).
Heyman adds that Hanrahan has received "multiple" offers at this point, though it's unclear which teams have extended a formal proposal. The free agent reliever looked good in a showcase earlier this month and is not expected to hold another audition before signing on with someone. Hanrahan reportedly won't be game-ready until June.

Newsday's Marc Carig reports that the Mets "don't appear to be involved" in any talks regarding Joel Hanrahan (elbow).
Carig does add the "at the moment" caveat, but it's looking like the Mets will pass on the free agent reliever. Hanrahan was naturally linked to the Mets given the uncertainty in the back-end of their bullpen. The rigthy isn't expected to be game-ready until June.
