Mauer will turn first base over to Kennys Vargas after going 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in the first game of the twin bill. A sore left shoulder limited Mauer to DH duty for a few games at the end of August, but it hasn't seemed to present any issues so far in September, as he's recorded nine hits in 31 at-bats.

If the injury is inhibiting Mauer offensively, it didn't show Monday, as he turned in a three-hit, four-RBI performance in the win over the Orioles. The Twins will likely keep using him at DH until he's deemed healthy enough to return to first base, but the ailment shouldn't have a noticeable impact on his fantasy utility at this time.

Mauer had a big day at the dish Monday, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and two runs scored. Mauer has hit the ball well since coming off the disabled list in mid-August, batting .297 with 17 RBI in 21 games. The Twins' slugger is hitting .276 with 45 RBI in 377 at-bats this summer.

This looks like nothing more than a routine day off for Mauer, who has started 16 straight games since coming off the DL earlier this month. Chris Parmelee will man first base in his absence, with Kurt Suzuki moving up to the No. 3 spot in the batting order. Mauer is batting .288/.391/.475 with two homers since his return.

Mauer drove in three RBI on Friday facing the Tigers, while scoring one run as he went 2-for-4 on the night. The days of Mauer being an elite player are gone, but he's still a solid hitter that will provide batting average at the corner slot. Mauer is currently hitting .278 on the year and his ability to take a walk keeps his OBP (.355) at a good level. Mauer has knocked in five RBI over his last five games.

Mauer was 1-for-2 with a homer, two runs scored and two walks in Sunday's home loss to Kansas City. It hasn't taken long for Mauer to find his groove at the plate again following his return from the disabled list on Aug. 10. He's hit .333 (7-for-21) with two homers, two doubles, three RBI and five walks in six games since he was activated.
