Kelly (shoulder) is expected to make his next scheduled start against the Blue Jays on Wednesday, the Associated Press reports. Manager John Farrell confirmed Kelly's status after Saturday's game, as the indication continues to be that he was removed from Friday's start as a precaution due to slight discomfort in his right shoulder.

Kelly was pulled from Friday's game "as a precaution," ESPN Boston's Gordon Edes reports. The Red Sox would not say what was ailing Kelly, and the team will address the matter further after the game. He had tossed five one-hit shutout innings while walking three and striking out five before getting pulled with his pitch count still at just 88 (54 strikes).

Kelly was beat up for seven hits and seven runs while walking six and striking out three in four innings against Houston on Sunday. Kelly had been enjoying a nice start to his Boston career, allowing three earned runs through his first two starts, but the wheels fell off against the Astros. Most of the damage was done in the top of the second inning, with Kelly allowing four hits and six runs in the frame, capped off by Jose Altuve's grand slam. The right-hander will hope for a much better outing at home against Seattle on Friday.

Kelly tossed six innings of five-hit, two-run ball in a no-decision Tuesday against the Reds. He also walked three and struck out four. Kelly has yet to receive a decision in his two starts with the Red Sox after coming over in a July 31 trade with the Cardinals, but he's only allowed a combined three earned runs and eight hits in 13 innings so he's off to a decent start in Bean Town. The third-year big leaguer now owns a 3.75 ERA to go along with a 17:31 BB:K in 48 innings this season and is slated to start again Sunday versus the Astros.

Kelly had a sparkling Red Sox debut Wednesday against his former team. He gave up a run on three hits while walking four and striking out two over seven innings. Kelly wasn't involved in the decision, but he did receive a warm welcome from the St. Louis crowd. The righ-hander is 2-2 with a 3.86 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 27:14 K:BB ratio overall in 2014. Kelly takes the mound Tuesday in Cincinnati.

Updating a previous report, Kelly will remain in Wednesday night's game despite suffering an apparent leg injury, MLB.com's Ian Browne reports. Kelly's exit appeared all but certain after he seemed to injury his leg running down the first base line. However, he was able to complete his warmup tosses, and ultimately convinced team trainers that he was good to go. His status is worth monitoring for the remainder of the contest.

Kelly left Wednesday's game against the Cardinals after appearing to have suffered a lower leg injury, Sean McAdam of CSNNE.com reports. Kelly's exact injury status at the moment remains uncertain, as reports have suggested anything from a knee to a calf injury. This clearly isn't what the Red Sox want to see after acquiring the right-hander as part of the John Lackey deal with the intentions of him filling many of the innings Lackey leaves behind. Consider Kelly day-to-day until more information is disclosed, leaving him questionable for his next scheduled start. He allowed one run on three hits and two walks prior to exiting.

Joe Kelly was chased out after five innings of work having allowed four runs on seven hits Wednesday in the Cardinals' loss against the Padres. The right-hander struck out five and walked one on the night. After missing almost three months due to a painful hamstring strain, Kelly has yielded 15 runs and 22 hits over 12 2/3 innings in his three road starts since activation. He fired seven innings of one-run ball on July 19 against the Dodgers in his only home start since coming off the shelf. Fortunately, Kelly gets the Red Sox at home next week.

Joe Kelly was hit hard in Friday's no-decision against the Cubs, allowing five runs on eight hits over just 4 2/3 frames. The right-hander struck out four and walked two on the afternoon. Most of the damage against him came via the long ball, with Ryan Sweeney blasting a three-run homer in the second inning and opposing starter Travis Wood connecting on a solo shot in the fourth. He'll look to get back on track when he does battle against the Padres in San Diego on Thursday.

Joe Kelly fired seven innings of one-run ball Saturday in the Cardinals' 4-2 win over the Dodgers. It was a refreshing outing from Kelly, who got rocked in his first start off the disabled list last week in Milwaukee. He yielded only four Los Angeles hits and one walk while fanning four batters. Kelly has an excellent 3.05 ERA in 256 1/3 career innings at the major league level and is worth owning in most standard fantasy formats. He'll get the Cubs at Wrigley Field next.
