Crain was in good spirits after the outing and expresses optimism about his availability for Opening Day, according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Daryl Van Schouwen. Crain will pitch again Monday as he attempts to be ready for the start of the season.

Crain felt renewed groin discomfort after a minor league appearance on Wednesday, but it's apparently not serious enough to keep him out of action. The White Sox haven't ruled him out for the start of the season, but a stint on the disabled list is a possibility.

Jesse Crain (groin) threw an inning Wednesday on the minor league side of White Sox camp.
Crain allowed two hits and a run, but what's more important is that he made it through the outing without feeling any lingering discomfort in his groin. He is hoping to be in the Chicago bullpen on the first day of the season and is on track right now to reach that goal.

Crain threw on the side, though, and told reporters that he continues to "feel better." The 31-year-old right-hander has been slowed for the past couple of days by shoulder fatigue. It sounds like routine spring stuff.

The right-hander threw a 30-pitch bullpen session Sunday and has some fatigue but no pain. He's been nursing a strained adductor muscle since early on in camp but should have enough time to get ready for Opening Day as long as he can avoid setbacks.

Jesse Crain has been diagnosed with a strained right shoulder and will not pitch in the World Baseball Classic.
Crain, a native of Toronto, had been committed to Team Canada. But now it's uncertain whether he's going to be ready for the start of the MLB regular season. The White Sox will monitor him closely over the next few weeks.
