Chavez won his arbitration case and will make $4 million in 2016, Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While arbitration trials aren't the best way to get on the right foot with a new team, Chavez will bring a solid back-of-the-rotation presence to a staff that needs starting depth. The $4 million salary is a $1.85 million raise from last season.

Chavez was traded to the Blue Jays on Friday for Liam Hendriks, FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Jays have a hole in the rotation, with David Price likely heading elsewhere in free agency. Chavez has had a FIP under 4.00 in each of the last three seasons, and he pitched a career-high 157 innings in 2015 before being shut down after suffering a broken rib. It's a downgrade in ballpark for the veteran righty, but an indisputable upgrade in projected run support, so he could win double-digit games for the first time in his career.

Chavez (ribs) was placed on the 60-day disabled list on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
After suffering a non-displaced rib fracture that ended his season, Chavez was placed on the 60-day DL to clear a spot on the 40-Man roster for Barry Zito.

Chavez has a non-displaced rib fracture and his season is over, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 32-year-old righty predictably regressed this season, posting a 4.18 ERA compared to a 3.45 ERA in 2014. That said, his 3.86 FIP was almost identical to his 3.89 FIP from last season, so that is probably a good gauge of his true talent. He should compete for a spot at the back of Oakland's rotation next spring. Cody Martin will make the start Wednesday against the White Sox and could stick in Oakland's rotation down the stretch.

Chavez has been scratched from his scheduled start Wednesday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chavez told reporters that he's dealing with rib soreness and has been having trouble breathing. An X-ray revealed no serious damage, and the team is considering sending him home to undergo an MRI. With only a few weeks remaining in the season, Chavez indicated that he may not pitch again in 2015. Oakland is yet to announce who will take the hill in Chavez's place Wednesday.

Chavez (7-15) gave up three runs on six hits and a walk over six innings while striking out six in a loss to Texas.
EDGE Analysis
Chavez's performance was relatively solid when compared to some of his recent outings, but he happened to be dueling against Colby Lewis, who tossed a shutout. This season has been a tale of two Chavezes as, after registering a 3.20 ERA and 1.18 WHIP through July 1, he has notched a 5.72 ERA and 1.60 WHIP since. Though his strong start has skewed his season numbers into respectability, know that you won't be getting that level of pitcher should you pick him up.

Chavez (7-14) struggled on Saturday, allowing five runs on six hits and five walks over just two innings in a loss to the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
That record that looks like a football score is extremely unfair to Chavez as he's been very effective for the A's this season. With that said, 11 base runners in just two innings is a dreadful performance. Chavez has allowed at least four runs in six of his last nine outings and the innings may be getting to him as he's already surpassed a career-high in innings pitched. He'll look to pitch better next Friday against the Rangers in his next scheduled start.

Chavez didn't factor in the decision, giving up three runs (one earned) on eight hits and a walk, while striking out six batters in a 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Chavez needed 95 pitches to get through five innings, using eight groundball outs to stymie the Diamondbacks. Of the eight hits allowed by the 32-year-old, only one was an extra-base hit, but it was a costly one. David Peralta's solo home run in the third inning accounted for the only earned run for Chavez, and he's now allowed at least one home run in each of his past seven starts. He will look to buck that trend Saturday when he takes the mound against the Mariners.

Chavez struck out four and did not walk a batter, but he allowed four runs on nine hits over 6.1 innings in a losing effort against Seattle on Friday night.
A pair of two-run homers from Logan Morrison and Seth Smith represented all of the damage done against Chavez in Friday's outing. His final start before the All-Star break is scheduled for Thursday against the Yankees in New York.
