Since returning from a three-game suspension for his role in the May 15 brawl with the Rangers, Chavez has allowed an earned run in just one of his five appearances.
EDGE Analysis
Chavez holds a 3.20 ERA through 20 appearances this season, and has three holds to go along with one blown save. The Jays offense and bullpen has been improve as of late, and Chavez should see his fair share of opportunities. He's made four appearances (five innings) over the team's past eight games.

Chavez will appeal his three-game suspension for his role in Sunday's brawl with the Rangers, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
There was a sense Chavez might just accept the appeal, seeing as he pitched Sunday and Monday and probably would have been unavailable for a couple days anyway. However, Chavez will appeal and will be available out of the Jays' bullpen until a ruling is handed down.

Chavez has been suspended three games by Major League Baseball for his role in Sunday's benches-clearing brawl with the Rangers, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports. Chavez will begin serving his suspension immediately.
EDGE Analysis
Chavez pitched in each of the last two games, so it makes sense for the reliever to begin serving it right away, rather than attempting an appeal. The right-hander will sit out Tuesday and Wednesday against the Rays, and he'll serve the final game of the ban Thursday when the Jays open a four-game set with the Twins in Minneapolis. Chavez will be eligible to return Friday night for Game 2 of the Twins series.

Chavez was ejected from Sunday's game after plunking Prince Fielder in the bottom of the eighth inning, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chavez's actions came after a benches-clearing brawl in the top of the eighth inning that resulted in three other ejections. It's quite possible a minor suspension is on the horizon but any supplemental discipline should be announced in the coming days.

Chavez's stock is rising as manager John Gibbons is preparing to give the righty an increased role out of the pen, Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
With Brett Cecil and Drew Storen struggling offer much help late in games, Chavez will be the unlikely beneficiary as his performance has caught the eye of the manager. "There's a lot that comes out of that skinny body," Gibbons said of Chavez. In his second stint with the Jays, the 32-year-old is sporting a 1.69 ERA and 1.03 WHIP over 11 appearances this season.

Chavez (back) tossed 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen against Oakland on Friday night.
EDGE Analysis
He allowed a hit and struck out one during the outing. Thus far in 2016, Chavez has been effective out of the Toronto bullpen, posting a 9:1 K:BB, 1.50 ERA, and 1.17 WHIP over six appearances.

Manager John Gibbons said that Chavez (back) is feeling better but likely won't pitch Thursday, Barry Davis of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's promising that Chavez appears to be past the back soreness that was bothering him since Tuesday, but it appears the Blue Jays still want to be cautious with the right-hander. He's been one of the better members of the bullpen so far this season, striking out eight batters in 4.1 innings thus far, so he should slot back into a fairly prominent role in the Blue Jays bullpen once he's deemed ready to return.

Chavez (back) will not be available again Wednesday against the Orioles, Gregor Chisholm of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Chavez is still dealing with a sore back that's now sidelined him for two consecutive games. The 32-year-old has given up one earned run over 4.1 innings on the young season to go along with eight strikeouts. It's unclear whether the righty will be available out of the bullpen for Thursday's series finale against the Orioles.

Chavez was not available to pitch in Tuesday's game due to back soreness, Sportsnet's Barry Davis reports.
EDGE Analysis
His back locked up earlier in the day when he was playing catch. Chavez said he hopes to be fine for Wednesday's game, so he should be considered day-to-day for now. So far he has a 2.08 ERA and 1.38 WHIP working in relief for the Jays.

Chavez is ticketed for a bullpen role to start the season, MLB Network's Jon Heyman reports.
EDGE Analysis
He seemed like a likely addition to the rotation when the Blue Jays traded for him during the offseason, but Gavin Floyd and Aaron Sanchez have emerged as the top options for the fifth start spot. Chavez should serve as a long reliever and swingman this year, but could enter the rotation if the Jays suffer an injury or two.
