Hazelbaker has held his own in a limited role for the Diamondbacks this season, slashing .318/.412/.477 in 44 at-bats. He could be back with the big club later in the season, but he's unlikely to see any sort of consistent playing time with the Diamondbacks set in the outfield. A corresponding roster move should be announced Saturday.

Hazelbaker went 1-for-3 with a pair of walks and two runs in Thursday's 10-3 win over the Rockies.

EDGE Analysis

The Diamondbacks' power-packed lineup didn't miss a beat while Hazelbaker manned the leadoff spot for Gregor Blanco, who received a day off in the series finale. Hazelbaker has reached base five times in his last two starts and carries a .420 on-base percentage on the season, but he's unlikely to parlay his accomplishments into more consistent at-bats with the Diamondbacks, especially with A.J. Pollock (groin, quad) due back from the disabled list in the near future.

Hazelbaker started in left field and went 2-for-5 in Sunday's 5-4 win over the Phillies in 10 innings.

EDGE Analysis

With Daniel Descalso receiving the day off, Hazelbaker entered the lineup for only the second time since being called up from Triple-A Reno in June 6. The 29-year-old has been effective when he's gotten a chance to play this season, but he may not stick around with the big club much longer with A.J. Pollock (groin) nearing a return from the disabled list.

With Yasmany Tomas (groin) landing on the disabled list, the Diamondbacks were in need of outfield depth. Hazelbaker will head to the big leagues to offer just that, and his strong .917 OPS during his brief time in the big leagues should help him pick up a decent number of innings while Tomas is out. Daniel Descalso and Chris Herrmann are also in the running for increased playing time in left field as a result of this.

The Diamondbacks are giving A.J. Pollock the day off to rest, so Hazelbaker will draw into the starting nine for just the third time all season. After opening the campaign with hits in each of his first six at-bats, Hazelbaker has fallen back to earth with a 1-for-10 mark in his subsequent at-bats, most of which have come in pinch-hitting situations.

Hazelbaker went 3-for-3 with a walk and a run scored in Saturday's 11-2 win over the Indians.

Making his first start of the season, Hazelbaker ensured the Diamondbacks didn't lose any offensive firepower with A.J. Pollock receiving the contest off for rest. Hazelbaker showcased a decent combination of pop and speed when he received regular at-bats with the Cardinals last season, but he won't have a clear path to everyday starts with the Diamondbacks so long as all of Pollock, David Peralta and Yasmany Tomas are able to stay healthy.

Hazelbaker has made the Diamondbacks' Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder, Bob McManaman of The Arizona Republic reports.

EDGE Analysis

Hazelbaker struggled to make an impact this spring, compiling just a .182 average with 14 strikeouts in 55 Cactus League at-bats. Claimed off waivers from the Cardinals this offseason, the 29-year-old will try to find some semblance of the success he had in 2016, when he finished with a .775 OPS and 12 home runs in a similar role for St. Louis. He won't carry much value until he sees consistent playing time, however.

Hazelbaker is hitting just .174 (8-for46) with no home runs this spring.

EDGE Analysis

Hazelbaker is on the roster bubble and looks unlikely to win a reserve outfielder role at this point. However, he could sneak on the roster if Yasmany Tomas has a setback to an oblique injury.
